Well....I checked remaining stock on Horrizon's website....could order 4 Tigers....
So I ordered 1-more....
I haven't do this before...but I am confident that this plane is worth it.... and when it is sold out...
Horizon WILL NOT get anymore....
I almost pulled the trigger on a Scratch N Dent 163" E -Flite L 13 Blanik...for 543$ shiped but... I thought.. .it wasn't what I wanted....
So I picked up a Tiger... and it was even Less than the 1st one??? Horizon gave me 65$ off besides????
Total 329$ ???? wow.... def. worth it...
Perhaps it is the Rewards that they now have???/
I will be doing a build soon....
Justin.

I hope I am not offending anyone on here.
I almost didn't want to post it, because It seemed like I was rubbing in a (good deal crap).....down your throats...
I have been there.
ZDZ F3A= paid 680$ total....when 1st came out Drop to 400$ and then TBM had a 230$ close out price....
The list goes on...I
I felt that this plane could be a great plane to float around with all day long....
I may have to place floats on it...
ONLY 1-left at Horrizon .....If you are on the fence get it..

Our local H.S. in Kingston has sold five already and just got four more. Can't wait till spring and have a Tiger Moth day. Not sure if we could get all nine in the air at once but what a sight that would be.
Happy flying to all the Tiggy owners everywhere.

HOW do the Rudder/Verticle stablizer attach???? I see how the Elevators go on..
Is it Just me, or did Horrizon leave that part out????
In the manual it just appears out of thin air.... MAGIC!!!!

Peter Goldsmith said...."Guys I have been watching this thread a little and have been concerned about you having to add weight to the nose. I went to a lot of trouble to keep everything up in the nose and the tail as light as possible to ensure you would not have to add nose weight, or in worse cases very little nose weight.
I talked to Dick yesterday and he also had to add a substantial amount of weight. (Nice job on the ballast Dick).
For reference 4 pre production and one production kit was built and flown before we shipped, none had nose weight. As you can imagine how I felt when the first few kits that have been built by consumers we having to add excessive amounts of lead, I was pretty disappointed to say the least.
Well last night I pulled mine down of the wall ( the one I was flying at Joe Nall) and did a C of G check. Sure enough, the numbers in the manual are 1” too far forward. Mine is currently flying at exactly 8” measuring back from the LE of the dummy fuel tank, and I have flown it 3/8” further back than that.
So the manual should read, C of G is 7 5/8” – 8 1/4'”.
Guys I sincerely apologize for my error, and I hope this comes as good news as you should be able to remove some if not all the lead from the nose"
Kind regards
Peter Goldsmith

There is a very good post on rc goups (funny how I can post that on rcu but not post other sites like FG)LOL....
Anyhow....
Peter Goldsmith talks in length, of how the plane flys and why it does what it does.....
Because the plane is scale, it has the same char. as the FULL SIZE Tiger Moth...
Faster you go, the more lift, the more lift, the more down trim you need.
With this type of wing design, you can't have it be trimed to fly at any speed, w/o changing camber (trim)
ECT. ECt....
It seems this plane can be put together in a Evening??

I have been watching this kit for a while. When I saw the price drop I had to splurge. My Tigey was under my bench for a few weeks and I started reading this thread. Got me excited so I cleaned my workbench and broke out the kit today! Have to say I'm a scratch builder and this is only my second ARF. But it definitely looks high quality and simple to finish. It might be worth buying another and recovering in cloth with a bunch of scale upgrades.... Also, I was thinking of the Satio FG 21 for power. Seems like most people say it's over powered with the 26cc size engine. I like flying more scale like anyway. Anybody use this engine? Thanks

I am thinking of buying some carbon rod as a back up to the original ones. My Tiger Moth is hanging in a hobby shop at the moment. If someone would measure the diameter or their rods and let me know I would appreciate it.
Thanks

I'm also thinking of buying this arf. The only problem I need to put a dle 35cc engine it. Can the plane handle this size engine? Is the fire wall built strong or do I need to strengthen it?

A dle 35 will fit fine. You'll want to use a wrap around muffler if you don't have the rear exhaust version. The firewall is built for a gas engine. The manual states a 26cc motor, but Horizon lists the evolution 33cc gas motor as part of the completion list.

This plane is such a kite, I may just place my OS 160. Gemini twin....
I have seen plenty of larger scale Warbirds with mufflers and carb holes, hanging out in the breeze....
I don't thing it will wreck the scale looks...
I could place the cut pieces of cowl over the top of the heads, like a tent.....
I think the saito 36gas will be too much for this plane.... I would end up idling aroun all day...
The only thing I don't like is that the os twin is Methanal....
I have a spark ignition on it (C&H ) older machanical ignition.....
I have been looking for ways to place a carb on it. I could always place a long headers to clear the plane...
What do you think....??? Would the OS 1.60 Twin wreck the looks???
I have a DLE 20cc , saito 1.25 36cc 4-stroke gas, YS 1.60 (wayy over powered)....

Anyone's elses Wheel hubs fall apart???
The threaded plastic the the 4 screws go into cracked in half....
Perhaps I used the wrong screws??? I siliconed them together for now... I will add some wood and epoxy so the scews have something
to bite into....
Weird thing is... the screws are the right thickness, but a little longer than the screws shown in the manual....
I glued them back together already, so I can't take pictures....sorry

Without getting into a size of engine debate here is something to consider. I am using an 18 X 6 Xoar prop. I set the RPM at 5500 to 6000 rpm to give scale like flight. The A/C has the tail up in about six feet and takes off by itself in about fifteen.

No.
I have a Pterodactyl 36cc in my H9 Tiggie and it flys it nicely. Wings are still attached. I rarely go above 1/2 throttle unless I want to go vertical with it or hover it. Be aware that the firewall will need to be moved back 1" because of the length of the DLE 36 engine.
With that said, a dle 20cc would be an excellent choice.

So this is what mine looks like. A few things left to button up, but very near done.
The last pic is that of a real Tiggie in German markings. It is sitting in a Netherlands museum if im not mistaken.
