Hello new here!
i have a taigen Panther g and I would like to use my turnigy 9x with it but I know it's not possible with the stock 2.4ghz rx18 but you're able to do it with the 27mhz rx18. only problem is I cannot seem to find an rc5hl anywhere.
is there anyone that can help me as I really want to scrap the stock TX with my own one.

Hey Brandon,
The HL and TG boards are actually different and the RC5HL will not work with our boards. RCTA did make a small batch of RC5TG version boards, but I'm not sure if he still has any atm. We are however working on a new board that will let you use the stock transmitter or your own though so it might be worth it to wait for it
I would send RCTA a message and see if they have any sitting around, you never know!

Ahh thank you! I've been going crazy looking for a way to use my own TX with no joy. I've seen many people do it tho but 2 or 3 years ago.
is there any rough estimated time in which the boards will be available?

Erik, do you have any info on the new board you're working on?

..another option, although a bit more expensive, is to dump the stock electronics and go for a Clarke or IBU..that way you can use your TX plus you'll get better sounds and Tamiya compatable IR..

Seems a little expensive but if it does the job then that's good. Would the Clarke board come with all the necessary wires etc? As I couldn't see if if it does.

Kevin is an awesome guy, he really knows his stuff. I've had some of his products like the Comodo for years without any issue. In fact my favorite item he has is the Viper and I still use it in almost all my builds still. The new Taigen is close to completion, just finishing up on final issues and such. I'll keep everyone updated, I'll be working on the new manual for it shortly as well.

Sorry for the questions but would the board be available for purchase with just the board or will it come as standard in future taigen tanks? Again sorry for the questions.

yes they are a lot more expensive but they are in a different league to the stock electrics...run a IBU'ed tank next to a standard HL you'll see what I mean..
as to the wires etc, I would presume so, but best to check with the supplier, not sure who that is on your side of the pond..

Brandon, Most after market control boards do not come with much in the way of cabling because most of them be it "CLARK" "IBU 2/3" or "ASP" are more or less Plug and Play so the makers assume you will be using the existing cables already in your Tank.
But a full set of cables already fitted with plugs can be gotten from most dealers for just a few $$,
I would be surprised if "IMEX" were unable to supply you with them.

Ok awesome! Thanks guys! Got to wait for pay day then i will treat myself with a Clark tk22. Unless another newer version pops up.

Brandon, Whenever somebody joins this place there are usually lots of questions and then comes an apology for asking so many questions.
We cannot read your mind,
And yes we have probably heard the question lots of times before BUT it is new to you so go right ahead ASK,
Most all of us came into this hobby raw and learnt through trial and error (TO MUCH ERROR ON MY PART) and by asking lots of questions,
If you are spending hard cash on what is really a luxury item you sure want to know you are doing it right. Enjoy.

Both The new board features a new sound card with replaceable sounds and also the ability to use either the stock controller or your own. We are also working with another company for another aftermarket board, but we have no details at this time, that company will make the announcements for that board, not us. Taigen also has BIG plans for the future, we have already started changing the way we make our tanks, next is electronics
It unfortunately takes a lot time to make these changes as we sell a LOT of tanks, and even a small issue can turn into a snowball effect. We want to make sure everything is perfect before release. Unfortunately I cannot speak of the other board at this time, but it is working and has battled even at Danville with no issues.
Please feel free to ask away my friend, as Shaun said, without asking you won't learn anything and we are all happy to help here Your best bet is to start off with what you want, then ask the question. I can bet it can and will be answered here! Just a warning.... one tank is never enough!!

Thanks guys! Really appreciate it! For now I think I will go for the Clark tk22 board as it's available. My plan for the future is to have plenty of tanks Just so happy that I a, able to use my own tx. I'll probably have many more questions to come.

Do plan Airsoft or IR, that could make a difference in what you buy. Do your homework, dont buy too soon. I have all IR tanks. I have 3 Clark TK22s, most reasonable price, but it was a job getting them dialed in properly. The stick configuration is really goofy in my opinion. My Tamiya is probably the easiest to control, but I like my BARC4/Benedeni the best,, I have 2 of them. Like I said my tanks are all IR and use Tamiaya Battle Units and Tamia IR emitters. I have Taigens, Tamiaya, and HL/Taigen tanks. If you get a Clark, get a programming remote too. I am patiently waiting for more info from Erik on these new boards he teasing about. If you are airsoft only check out Garys Youtube videos he ran a lot of different boards, he is under MAX-U52 or Crius. Good luck

Thanks shorty! That actually helps a lot! I've got to wait until I get paid in a few weeks so I'm going to do extensive research on these. I'm with you also on the new boards Erik is teasing about.i want to see what they are like.

Brandon, before you buy the Clark TK22, make sure you understand what you want. this board needs a few modifications done to the wiring on the tank for airsoft to make it run. the board does come with 4 cables that connect directly to your standard RC receiver. the rest of the cables you need to either have or supply yourself. Read the notes on Clarks website very carefully. Most of us on this site have had to learn the hardway with Clark boards.. They work well but do need a bit of technician work to sort out - mine came with the cables wired back to front from the diagram. Also, some wiring on the HL tanks, particularly the 8 pin connector was back to front for the Clark board but not on all tanks?. Also, the programmer can be a bit hit and miss in set-up too. Not terrible problems to solve but will frustrate you initially if you encounter them.

Thanks captain for the heads up! Should I get the Clark board And the see what cables I would need, if any. As I can't see the Clark board yet so I am unable to see if it it back to front etc. now I know I can be faced with issues with back to front connectors, I'll be prepared.
