Anyone else npticed that a lot of the sites out there that cater for the RC community, say that, but almost never have any rc tank focus? it's always, aircraft, cars, boats etc, but hardly ever. tanks. Just a little pet peeve of mine, sure the rc tank community is mall but I feel that more sites/ forums should accomodate tankers. What do you think?

This is the only RC tank site that really interests me, anyway. I like our little group of guys (most of the time
) and I can pretty much find out anything that I need to know here. I would be happier if people posted more tank videos, though.
The thing that ticks me off is that nobody carries any Tamiya tanks or tank parts in their hobby shop. [:@] .....I hate waiting for my "fix" to come in the mail.
Prices might be more competitive if you could find them everywhere.

I agree with Jason, there are a few other ones out there but they just don't compare with this one. Except for maybe rc-panzerketten-forum.com Unfortunately its mostly in german. If anyone has any questions or needs something translated from that site, let me know.

I guess a tanker has to accept that RC tanking is a fringe activity. It seems that everyone else in the RC hobby is addicted to speed and that comes in the form of RC aircraft, cars and boats, just like ChrisJi said. Also, not many care for anything that's RC and scale. It's usually just aircraft-cars-boats and they all look like silly, flashy toys.
At most, I want realism first and an RC vehicle that performs like its full size counterpart as much as possible. RC tanks fulfill this to a great degree.

how can Henglong fullfill this to a great degree?

still look forward to your finest improved henglong tank and painted by low cost paint tanks.

One thing I've noticed about rc cars is that they all look like toys. Totally unrealistic, even the expensive ones, what's up with that? The only exception I can think of is the tamiya tractor trailers.

There are two hobbyshops in Jacksonville that support R/C tanks. I also have another site I use to get interest up in the R/C tanks (R/C Tech- under Oval and-------). Presently I get plently of hits each day as it is a progress report of what I'm doing with my tank and our club events.Ocassionally someone will actually reply but not often. To me these tanks are more fun than racing my cars- it is more relaxing and the way my cars were back many years ago.
I also bring my tank to other events(r/c car races) to get more interest but unfortantutely you need two tanks to battle. If they had some group in the tampa area I've got a friend waiting to purchase a tank.

There a couple of forums on Yahoo that focus on RC tanks
for general tank info, check out
Armornut's RC Armor Hut --RC Armor Talk
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/armornutsrcarmorhut/
For Bandai 1/15 scale kits and the WSN 1/16 scale T-34, check out
BigBandaiTanks · 1/15 Bandai & 1/16 WSN Tanker
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BigBandaiTanks/
I think that ETO Armor is in Florida, but I think they are in Jacksonville, check out the Armornuts forum for more info.

What I was talking about, Tom, is the overall RC tanking hobby. Not with regard to any one brand of tank. Overall, we have tanks in the RC hobby that can conquer the same obstacles as real tanks, rotate turrets, elevate barrels, shoot (either light beams or BB's), make engine and operational noises (cannon booms, machine gun fire, etc.). But if you want to be in a contest, a properly working HL has more authentic simulations than a Tamiya but only in two areas: smoking and they shoot an actual projectile.
I have Tamiya tanks (so low cost is not my condition). That aspect has been spoken of. What you fail to understand, and I suppose never will, is that my Heng Long as loathsome as it is, is my designated roundabout thrash-about tank. The one that gets tested with all forms of use and abuse. Even the "cheap paint abuse". Just because I have used cheaper paint to paint some things doesn't mean I use them all the time. I got a HL solely to see how good it is. So far I'm impressed for the money.
One more thing. Get a life dude. How about a girlfriend? Or something. You spend too much time here and it shows.
I like you Tomzag, you're silly!
Signed, the ever cheerful,
-Harq

Harq, I like you too.
i think i will never understand you[sm=lol.gif] as you think HL have more simulation than tamiya only because smoke and bb. what if tying a bb gun on top of Nitro blizzard, I believe that will provide you more simulation[sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif]
also i do not understand you as you think one does not have life if he posts here more than you do. Silly, silly, silly.
too much joke here, let us be serious. when will you post some pictures of your tanks?

Well. if you stop to think about it, it's pretty simple to see why we don't get much support. Tamiya is the only high-profile company making r/c tanks. Kyosho can do it, but doesn't. Heng Long is a nice, low cost option, but I never even heard of them until I started researching r/c tanks and found out there was a low-cost option to Tamiyas. Anyone considering tanks and going to a hobby shop will not see HL tanks, or even be told about them. Tower does not carry them. You have to be in the know. As expensive as Tamiyas are, the other options are the even more expensive, larger scale metal tanks which are too big, heavy, and far too expensive for most. Tanking wil not blow up without serious competition to Tamiya. Don't hold your breath on price drops. If HL stepped up quality to near Tamiya standards and got carried by major distributors like Tower, that would be awesome for our community. BUT kiss those under $100 price tags goodbye. It's very hard to convince go fast guys to drop the kind of coin on a slow, realistic tank that they could on a 40MPH 1/8 scale buggy or truck. But hey, I knkow none else in Miami with tanks and I'm fine with that. Between you guys and Making-trax.com, I'm straight.

Didn't know about making trax, just joined over there. I for one wouldn't mind if there was a 1/16 middle point between tamiya and hen long, but don't think that will happen anytime soon.

In Germany, in the past when Tamiya first came out with tanks, GRAUPNER came out the same time with some 1/16 scale tanks. Can't remember which one........anyway, back then they were......well, like the HL's. After I think it was 2 years they killed the line of tanks. Every once in a while, you will find one in the german ebay. www.ebay.de
http://cgi.ebay.de/Graupner-RC-Kampf...QQcmdZViewItem apparently they started making them again. and what pray tell is this http://cgi.ebay.de/Ferngesteuerte-Pa...QQcmdZViewItem it says its from HL.

I'd taken a break from this for a few days - apparently not long enough. Keep up the good work Harq - I'll relieve you in about two weeks.
