Many of you have probably seen this video, but it made me think. I noticed that when the tank turned (about half way through the clip), the tracks bunched up around the sprocket. My King Tiger does that and it really bugs me, but I guess it is acurate. The camo seemed a little strange, too...maybe it was just because it was in color. Was is common to have the sprocket and idler painted one color and the road wheels the other?
I had never heard an actual Jagdpanther, but it does not really sound much like the Tamiya sound, does it? It would have been nice if they could have shown up to get some different sound effect recordings.

A question to all jadgpanther(tamiya) owners out there doe your tank's engine sound like the one featured in this video, I heard that the tiger,King tiger and panther all have the same audio for their engine as tamiya says its teh same engine for all 3 tanks. But I do think that even withteh same engine, each of these tanks should sound slightly different due to different exhaust piping. Thus would like to find out if the jadg's recording is acurate since there is a operational real jadgpanther and they shld obtain teh recording form it.
Nice video, 1st time I seen a jadg fully restored and moving.

The bunching up of track is typical of any 'dead track' tank and is very normal. The M-26 Pershing with single pin T-81 tracks often had the track droop a lot after it left the sprocket and on hard, tight turns, but as long as it was adjusted properly, no problem. American tanks use a "live track" where the track will bend with the contour of the sprocket or idler and iliminates this bunching up and slack area. It greatly improves speed and maneuverability.
Check the camo color patterns of the Jagdpanther leading from the upper sections to the suspension, and you will see that color leads to the same color. A red leading to a yellow would break up the camo scheme, so that's the reason for the diff.
Great video on the tank, Thanks for sharing.

Yes, seen that video before and that old cat's plugs are fouled and the engine is running off song, but even still, cool.
The Tamiya fx in my Jadgpanther aren't close, even when hit and off idle.
The Tamiya KT tracks running performance can be significantly improved by installing a "spring loaded idler return system". The kit's idler system performs poorly, a well know issue.
If interested, email me off line and I will email the source for the parts many KT builders use. Simple install and no more tossed tracks or broken links.

What brand? Cheap!
I bought my tracks through Ebay for about $140.00, shipped. They are really sturdy zinc-alloy with fully enclosed steel pins, but they are also very heavy. I figured that if I was going to succeed in using them, I would need a no-nonsense fixed idler and some stonger motors. As it turns out, I think that I'm going to take the KT electronics and put them into either a HL Panzer III or IV and make the KT a static model for the battlefield. [sm=thumbs_up.gif] I like the thought of quick tanks with short barrels.

Well.... Believe it or not the IMPACT are about the same cost...
IMPACT includes the LOCKING PINS...
I do agree about short barrels, speed and agility for "SHOOTING and SCOOTING"
-TOMAS
P.S. ARE YOU COMING SUNDAY?????????????
Leave now and we will see you soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I run the KT spring idler system but with the stock plastic tracks. That combo works, with no more KT track problems (very short springs too).
And your right, the Tamiya KT's size is not ideal on a tight battlefield. Similar issues were faced in the Ardennes in Dec 1944, on those farm roads and lanes, I guess.
My Sherman and Tiger I remain my favorite battle day drivers and they are built fairly stock including using the Tamiya kit tracks.
The Jadgpanther is an indoor house cat, just wanted to build it. Have no intention of fighting it. The Panther is a work in progress and I have no plans to fight it either.

Oh well regarding the tight battlefield, I bet you haven't seen leap frogging shermans and pershings yet
It would be interesting to see them in real life battle

great videos and a very realistic tank. Very professional camera work. Sure would like to have that JSU-152 I saw in the one video with the T-34. Any idea who owns it and what he used to build?

Thanks for the videos.
The larger and heavier the vehicle the more realistic (MHO) it will appear.

Yes it looks and sound very realistic. I am wondering if it has the benedini (if I got it right) sound system in it. If it's within cost, might consider putting one in the jagdpanther.

Realistic? for a near-dead or fully cold motor. Should only smoke like that on startup, afterwards (warm motor) even a HL smoker makes too much smoke.

Except for the King tiger all the other tamiya german tanks have the wrong motor sounds. Watch youtube videos of Tiger 131 and the various panthers still running . There is a large difference in sound. Mostly due to exhaust profile. The tiger had larger mufflers where the panthers depending on type would sound different from each other because of the thinner early exhaust systems or the later flame retarding mufflers. Tiger 1s in good runing order are surprisingly quiet You hear the gearbox more than the exhaust.
