Default Another Elmod Question

Hello All,

I have a couple of questions I hope someone could help me with. I have a HL Tiger that I want to do a full elmod conversion on, it has the metal gearbox but not the treads, although I will be upgrading those in the future. My question is which elmod system do I go with, I know I am going for the 6ch prop, but just wondering since I will be adding the metal tracks down the line. And my 2nd question is which transmitter is recommended? I have heard great things about the spektrum, although I have read the futaba is easier to set up. I am looking at either on of the 2.4ghz systems. I also have seen that ch5 and ch6 need a toggle or dial type switch, do these systems fit into that criteria? Since I am not familiar with either one of these. Thank you for all your help.

Hello Rebellion, I suspect you already e-mailed me, but here is an update, for the Prop 6 the Eclipse seven is the only radio I can recommend, you can use the Hitec Laser 6 but you only get 5 and 1/2 channels!

Correction the Futaba 7c 2.4 ghz will work with the Prop 6, one of my customers has confirmed this, but you need to be experinced with the adjustments of theses radios!

Yeah, the main gun and machine gun are on a three pos switch mg one way
cannon other with neutral being off. The airsoft gun still functions
too if I turn it on. Eng and lights are on a pot switch, you just have
to make sure all switchs are neutral before you turn anything on or you
wont get full travel

And it will work with the Prop version you get all the functions just on 4 channels instead of 6! So you can get everything you want with any 4 chanel radio!!!

The reason the Prop 6 does not work with the new 2.4 ghz is that is is setup and adjustments are digital and the guys in Germany designed the system for analog adjustments!

Thanks,

The Blitz

Ahhh. So let me get this straight, takes me awhile lol. I could get the 2.4ghz but it will only work with the original prop version, not the prop 6 using the 4 channels instead? Or I could save a bunch of money and get the prop 4 and a simple 4ch radio to get the same results? And if this is correct which 4ch radio do you recommend? I only have used the radios that have come with RTR's for my rc trucks and tanks. . And yes I did email you before, but you see I am impatient and it is something I need to work on lol. Thanks again I appreciate it.

Hello Rebelllion I was corrected by one of my customers he has had success with a 2.4 gig radio the Futaba 7c with the PROP 6!!! Here is how he set it up...
The main gun and machine gun are on a three pos switch mg one way
cannon other with neutral being off. The airsoft gun still functions
too if I turn it on. Eng and lights are on a pot switch, you just have
to make sure all switchs are neutral before you turn anything on or you

But you need to be very experienced with these radios, and allthough I do have an expert radio guy on staff we have nto had the chance to set this up ourself! I and using the Specktum Radio 2.4 gig in my EL MOD Matorro King Tiger and it and you can set it up with all the funtions unsing the first 4 channels or you can use the Futaba attack 4 channel or the other two radio that I have recommended, The Hitec Laster 4 will ork but it is a FM ground Frequency!

My head hurts!!! Ok I think what I will do is look into the Futaba 6ex or the Spektrum 6ch 2.4 and get the standard prop4 elmod, and possibly use the first 4ch to set it up. The reason I state the 6ex is because I have read somewhere on this forum someone had good results using that radio. Just trying to do it the easiest way since I really dont have all that much knowledge of the radio systems.Thank you so much for the advice. You said you are using the spektrum, thats with the standard prop 4 I presume?

Actually I using it with the Prop 6 but I only have it setup for 4 that is how we discovered this problem, and I have not went in and swapped the chip to go back to the Prop version!

I will shoot and e-mail to my radio guy to double check on this! I have your e-mail give you response tonight or by tomorow at the latest!

Ok thanks Blitz I appreciate it. I am looking towards the spektrum because of the model memory and no crystals to worry about. This radio stuff confuses the you know what outta me. I read a post from Bullyhys and he is using the dx6 with the prop version, so I might just go that route. Also I want to do a U.S halftrack with the sabertooth esc and the spektrum would work nicely with that. So to make a long story short, a radio to cover it all.

Thanks guy's for the quick replies and advice, I appreciate it a lot. I think what I will do is go with the standard prop elmod and the spectrum radio, just for the versatility alone, not to mention the other benefits of the radio. My problem was that I overwhelmed myself with so many different options, for example should I go with the 6 prop to have separate functions for ch5 and ch6, should I go with the standard prop and just have them in the 4channels. I think the basic config will work decent enough for me. I was looking at the eclipse 7 and thought.....ok maybe I should go that route lol, and add another choice into the mix. Hmmmmm now that I think about it how is the eclipse 7 rofl...... Is it easy to set up? and is the 2.4ghz radio really needed or is it something that I am dwelling on? I do know one thing I will be getting the full elmod, booster, tls, and blaster. Sooooooo, I have narrowed it down to two options standard prop and spektrum or prop 6 and eclipse7.

Thanks, Wade

I have a Hitec 7 and full prop 6 channel Elmod. The only way that I have been able to configure it is with ignition on the landing gear 2 way switch, and MG/MG + light/Gun on channel 6 or 7 (one of the two pot switches). For some strange reason the main gun sound appears and disappears at random, and I have no idea why. I can have it for 20 mins, turn the tank off, come back and its gone?

The only 3 way switch on the tx is the Flight Mode, so does anyone know how I can use that for the MG & Main Gun?

Cheers

Rob G
