For me, yes. It already comes with the tires, body, and wheels, and 17mm hexes, which I prefer to 23mm hexes

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread

Wait, I don't understand. You think the MBX5T is a better choice or the CEN Matrix TR? Which do you say comes with a body?

MBX5T Maniac 04-28-2007 07:41 PM

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread

Sorry, yeah I think the MBX5T is better. The MBX5T comes with a body and stuff

JSRacer 04-28-2007 08:03 PM

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread

Oh wow, I didn't know that.

MBX5T Maniac 04-28-2007 08:20 PM

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread

Yep. You will need to buy the tires, wheels, and body on top of everything else if you buy the Arena. Which I didn't like. And it has 23mm hexes, meaning you got a smaller choice of racing tires, vs. 17mm being able to use any type of truggy wheel

You think JR 650's will get me by? What do you think of the OS VG .21? I have it in my Muggy and it gets around great.

MBX5T Maniac 04-28-2007 09:01 PM

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread

The .21 VG should be fine. I don't know the specs on the 650, but if it has more than 200 oz-in of torque, it's fine. I always say get a steering servo with at least 200 oz-in. I've got the Hitech 5955TG with 333oz-in of torque, which is good(lol)

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread

By now I have the front assembled, and so far, so good. perfect, no diff leak, and using the O rings as the manual.
LOOOOVE the Pillow Ball, big, and easy to tune the camber. Pretty good truggy only seeing the parts.

I bought an Axial 28 and a bump Start backplate, (Im in a budget [:o]).

TEAMLOSIFAN, I have a matrix Buggy. Its a really good vehicle, but its a pain in the !#$%/& the C-Hubs... guessing the TR will be as weak as the buggy.

Thats why I looked to Mugen cars, all Pillow ball!! This mugen is another level, and yes, you will get a body, wheels, tires (mine ar Bowtie MTR, molded foams) and wing. Dont buy any Air filter, its included too!!! (now I have 2.. jejejej)

Remember this:

Don't build the any of the diffs with the tiny S3 o-rings. This info is straight from the horse's mouth.

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread

MANIAC, but what happen if I use that O rings? Could you be more specific?

RcRacer37E 05-02-2007 04:11 PM

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread

I got this one manic. When they wear the handling becomes unpredictable, meaning pulls to the right or left. Just use the s-5 rings were they belong and all will be good. I had the S-3 rings in and at low speeds it was fine, but when I got on it hard, the front locked up like the front brakes were fully on.
I just ran round one in Ohio (pro series) and my diffs didnt leak a drop. Just use longer screws, sand the diff cups a bit and your good. I didnt double up the diff gaskets because I didnt have them at the time and as long as they arnt going to leak Im going to use it as is with only one gasket.
I did however find that the 5/5/2 diff oil was a bit relaxed. After I would land the big front jump and hard on the gas, the front end would come up. Yes, a truggy running wheelies. So this weekend Im going to try 7/10/2 and see what happens.
Also, be sure you use loctite tight on the axle pins and the c0801h screws up front. I lost the c0801h and missed round one of qualifying and in the main, I lost the drive shaft pin, day over. I also noticed that the link on the rear tie rod (left side) would work its way lose, loctite that too.
Other than that its pretty much by the book. I though I used loctite on the axle pins but must have over looked one and paid the price, didnt bump up[&o].

I bought a arms front and rear, center diff and 3 front/rear diffs. First outing and I wanted to be prepared for what ever might break. Nothing broke and it (the truggy) took some hard landings and some hard crashes that would have busted my older crt's hub carrier or a arms. The truggy bounced right back without hurting a thing.
The diffs I bought just so I could fill with diffrent fluids so I could change them out without haven to drain them and then refill them. This truggy is top notich all around. I would have to say just as tuff as the lsp truggy I once had and much lighter.
Its always nice to have the extra parts just incase but from my first outing none were needed. It was just a piece of mind knowning I had them just incase.

Extra wheel nuts, those are a must. Most folks over look those and if they work them selfs loose, the wheel takes off and the nuts is next to impossable to find. Extra E clips too. But all in all, its a very solid truggy.

what is the best stuff for the mugen mbx5t prospec (engine, pipe, servos, and wheels and tires)

RcRacer37E 05-06-2007 09:06 PM

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread

Mines got a Axe Rossi .21 hot mod with a jp-1, servos are airtronicserg-vb steering and 94758z throttle/brake. Tires depend on the track, bow ties are good all around along with crime fighters. The track conditions change and my tire choice will too, but 90% of the time crimefighters with bowtie for blue groove is my choice.
Any good .21 will power the mbx5t with a .28 being over kill and lower run times.

I just ordered a set of the dace [link=http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_24_350/products_id/8114]wheel hub[/link] adapters. Any idea of how much width it will take off? I was thinking 2-3mm per side?
Thanks.

what do yall think about a v-spec with jp-3 pipe?

RcRacer37E 05-07-2007 02:40 PM

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread

Those would be a good choice, OS are great engines and the jp3 pipe should complement it well.
