Yah, that looks really good! The shading, panel lines, rivets etc, make a great impression. I think best of all is the tone and the colors. It has a great look about it. As if that is what you expect it to look like! One of if not the best I have seen of this model thus far! Great job

thanks a lot to everyone for your kind words!
i decided to build one or two good projects every year instead of making a new plane every two months,
i wish i had the money to buy one sist or a carf model but i dont have it so i will try to make something that "looks" like it, of course it will NOT be a carf or a sist!!!
model isnt finished yet..

Stopped my builds and pulled maintenance on mine today Installed some new hardware and tighten up the cables. The plan was to fly this weekend but it looks like the weather is taking a turn for the worse with snow again.
Whats the latest on the stock gear for these?? What version are they on now?? How are they??

Dgiatr,
real nice plane. I like the bash you did. I recently finished my bash as well. Once I got the CG figured out with enough weight in the nose it flys very nice. Definitely a keeper. Here's some pics. It has working cowl flaps and a full cockpit.

Where did you put the CG?
What is the group's consensus on CG location?

Ragtop,
I balanced mine at about 150-152 mm. Slightly forward of the recommended 155 mm. I found mine was pretty pitch sensitive a little behind the recommended point. Once I made it slightly nose heavy it calmed right down. Also, with the Sierra gear the geometry is pretty close with the gear far forward to get the correct rake. As it retracts the CG shifts noticeably rearward and the plane was pitching nose up. With the CG a little forward with gear down, as the gear retracts then it is about right on.

Thanks dgiatr, your work is great too. I see the plane flies real nice. I love this plane. I also made hidden control horns for the wing split flaps so there wasn't any showing controls for the wing flaps.

I was on a roll, had just finished up motor, battery, and electronics installs. All I had left was to hinge wing surfaces, servos, and rig wing. Second time I plugged in batteries, all the magic smoke came out of he ESC. That took all the wind out of my sails. Wanted to make sure motor wasn't damaged, so I installed another ESC, and did a bunch of taxi tests (happy to say no landing gear issues) and set it aside.
Castle was great and sent me a replacement unit, and there is wind in the sails once again. Hinged wing surfaces and got one servo installed today, hope to find time to finish up wings tomorrow.
I am not a fan of cables on the elevator, but I took the easy path, and used them on the Dora, now I'm second guessing it. I didn't use the ESM cables, but some heavier a/c cables. They seem OK, but I would really feel better with a carbon pushrod on the elevator.
Has anyone had any issues with cables? Like, dislikes, preferences?
Thanks

Actually, my last flight I almost lost all elevator control. Huge elevator flutter. I was able to get it on the ground only by luck without much damage. Upon inspection I found that the crimp on the cable slipped which made a bunch of slack. It was my own fault. I double looped it through but I guess my crimp wasn't good enough. It was my own fault. I normally use pull pull on my planes and this was the first problem I have ever had. Just remember to double loop and crimp good and tight. Also, make sure there isn't any slack. That will give you flutter. Just don't make it too tight as you can ruin your servo.
