Welcome to the Brotherhood Dave,
Just for the record, Dave is an EXCELLENT member of our RC community and he is always availble to lend a hand or an ear to anyone who needs it. He is constanly mentor new RC pilots old and young. Thank you Dave.
I can't wait to see that big spit out at the field.
I believe your dad would be proud.
Sonny, one day we need to get together (your field or ours) and have a Western Washington fly in.

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
Hi Brother;
On a side note!! My other half and I was talking about upgrading one of my radio. My Dx7 after 2.5 years die hard. We talk about the Dx8. After a few weeks, there was no more talk about the upgrade. Came home today from the field and saw a box sitting on the work table. A quick look at the box and all I saw was the number 8. I finish unpacking and cleaning the planes and walk into the living room. She look at me and ask did I see the box. I said yes and thank you!! See look at me and said go take another look. Now I had that dumb look on my face as I walk back to the shop. When I took a good look, I almost drop on the floor!!!![X(][X(] She was at the shop door and said, how that for a upgrade!!!!
The picture say it all!!!!!

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
Does anyone have some pictures on how and where they attached the batteries on an ESM 72.5" Spitfire? I have a 30cc DLE on mine and don't have a lot of room in the nose with the electronic inition and switches.
Thanks for any help.

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
Here is my ESM Spitfire with a DLE 20. I have a SR Batteries 3500 mAh NiCd strapped beneath the engine that runs the ignition and receiver. The battery is connected to a Tech-Aero Ultra Ibec. I have now changed this setup from one NiCd to 2 Fromeco 2600 mAh Lithium Ion batteries sitting in the same space as this NiCd. The Li Ion batteries allow for redundancy through a Smartfly Bat Share. Hope this helps.

I thought maybe some history would be good for all to see. As I said, my Dad was a Spitfire Pilot during the Battle of Britain as well as in India and he gave me some of the things that he had saved from the war. His flight helmet is a bit worn, as is the paper work, but considering that they are all going on 70 years of age, they are allowed to be worn. Included are his dog tags, uniform hat, pay book, and discharge book.

I knew of two Spitfire pilots from my home town here in Western Australia and also got to meet a BOB pilot when I was in England but I could not find him name on any list. He had documents to prove it though and shrapnel in his hand still.

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
My Dad and Mom came to the United States in 1950 and became Citizens of the United States after I was born in 1951. I am the first of my family to be born in the United States. My Dad was a tool and die maker by trade and if I had half his brains I would be camped on some Island somewhere counting dollars. My Dad designed and sold products to Coke and he helped design the camera lenses that were on the first camera's to land on the moon. He loved to tell me stories about his days in the RAF and how he used to argue with his crew about weather a plane was ready to fly or not. My mother even had a scrap from one of the German rockets that fell on London during the war. As a boy she showed it to me and it had some German writing on it, so she assumed it was from one of the rockets, but it was never verified. She passed 20 years ago and the piece was lost at some point in time. As I said before, Dad passed last year, and with him went all his stories. He passed from complications from Dementia, however even with all his memory loss, he could still remember the war as if he was still there. As I said, I will build a Spitfire in his honor as soon as I get my work bench cleared off and I will keep the Brotherhood posted on my progress. As for anyone that is in my neighborhood, just drop me a line and we can meet for coffee and flying. Motoman and I are close friends, and our flying field is always open to quest's and the coffee shop is real close by. Thanks for letting my Dad and I join the brotherhood, it is an honor. Dave
