RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
Squadron members,
We have some good recommendations so far. If anyone has more to offer I am keeping track for all to see until we go to production.
I will be able to give a quote per shirt once we decide on style, design, and numbers needed.
• Frontal View Drawing on the back
• 'Spitfire Brotherhood Squadron' on the Front Pocket or on the opposite side of the Pocket.
• Collared shirts
• We have a donated Pic as a possible outline and/or silkscreen
• Vote as to the color of the T-Shirts; my vote would be for RAF Blue
• I agree. RAF blue is right on
• My vote is for the RAF Color
• This is my vote as well

OK I'll start posting a few of my own personal Spitfire pictures. These are ones I have taken or are in.
Lets start with a few 'replicas'.
#1 Spitty on a pole located at Bull Creek aviation museum in Perth WA. At one stage my very favourite Spitfire of all. (very young and didn't know it was a replica)
#2 In the Netherlands at an airforce museum I visited with my then Dutch girlfriend.
#3 At Duxford Mk IX. What a day (more to come from there)
Must go,,,, very busy,
Brad

If you would like to join the Spitfire Brotherhood, please send me an e-mail at [email protected], send me a PM, e-mail right here on RCU, or just make your request right here on this thread. I will track when I receive request and assign you a number based on the order by date and time when received. Who knows, maybe in the future we can have some squadron shirts and/or hats made.
Never can tell when you might run into another Spitfire Brother somewhere, so join now.

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
A couple more replicas for you. One in Edinburgh UK and a flying MK 26 in my home town that I have flown in and with in company on his wing.
My mate Keith owns it and I have a lot of pictures of this one as he flys over my house on a weekly basis.
Cheers,
Brad

[Update] Monforton Press has confirmed that the book Spitfire Mk.IX & XVI Engineered includes cross-sections of the spinner, dimensions, several photos, etc.

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
I have been flying RC for years but have not built any scale. I recently received my first one, a 72.5 ESM Spitfire with a 30cc DLE. I though this might be a good place to ask a question since there are so many Spitfire owners. Does anyone have any pictures of how they provided cooling to the engine? I'm afraid I won't have enough without cutting extra openings. Also put me down for the Spitfire Brotherhood.
Thanks.
Hal

Hal-
That is a lot of engine for this plane. A DLE 20 would be the better choice but it sounds like you already have the engine. You want to make sure you have an opening large enough to provide cooling to the finned part of the cylinder. Then you need an exit hole large enough to get that hot air out the rear...typically 2 to 3 times the size of the front opening. Here is a shot of my ESM Spit with an OS 120AX.

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
My CJM spitfire, uses a unique air cooling system. The radiators under the wing are somewhat funtional. One of them takes in air and there are two air ducts inside the fuse that mate up to the wing air slots and carry air up one side of the fuse to the engine compartment. There are molded in channels that distribute the air, then the hot air is carried back down the other side of the fuse via an air duct inside and down to the wing and out the other radiator. Now, Im repowering mine with a 4.2 so its bigger than the cowling so unfortunately, Ill be cutting out a secton for the cylnder to stick out. So the air ducts really are not needed anymore. But, it was a nifty idea from Century Jet Models.

Yep, article said it was on a straifing run lol.
There was a man locally that was a P51 fighter pilot. I got to go and talk with him with another man that knew him personally. He told story after story about combat flying.
He told us that it wasnt uncomon for pilots to come back with grass in the intakes on the P51 from doing low level straifing runs lol. They even said whoever had the most grass got a free beer that night.
I asked him about when something blew up in front of them how did they make it through all that fire....he just looked at me and said.. "I just closed my eyes" LMAO and he was serious. Guess thats what makes a good fighter pilot. No fear.
Anyways, here is the link from which I plucked those pictures. Very interesting story.

I fly a Hanger 9 Spit with Stanford Tuck markings, initially flew with a Saito 115 but current powerplant is an OS FS110A. Thinking about either a Kyosho or ESM Spitty for my next bird, any recommendations? BTW, I'd like to join the brotherhood.

Any more input or ideas on the shirts.
This is what others are recommending.
“We have some good recommendations so far. If anyone has more to offer I am keeping track for all to see until we go to production”.
I will be able to give a quote per shirt once we decide on style, design, and numbers needed.
• dasintex: Frontal View Drawing on the back
• dasintex :'Spitfire Brotherhood Squadron' on the Front Pocket or on the opposite side of the Pocket.
• tevans55 : Collared shirts
• aerofalcon : We have a donated Pic as a possible outline and/or silkscreen
• dasintex : Vote as to the color of the T-Shirts; my vote would be for RAF Blue
• dennymo : I agree. RAF blue is right on
• jet22b : My vote is for the RAF Color
• Brad330l : “RAF Blue” This is my vote as well
WARBIRDRCER: I VOTE on shirts with a collar, a pocket, and RAF Blue.
Here are the samples I found on the RAF Blue.
