thank you for the response guys, it is good to hear how retracts are holding up. I have sierra units in other models and have been very pleased. the electric robarts would be slick IF they are reliable which it seems they may be. as I have been reading on various threads the main failure with the FW and robarts occurred when the model would get sideways on landing and the stress would make trunions bend and wing mounts fail and blow out of the top of the wing. I also read that the current retracts have been upgraded and are suppose to be stronger.
@ this point I will be adding strength to the mounting areas for sure and leaning toward the electric robarts.
I would dearly love to run the saito 84cc r3 or even an evo 777 glow would be an interesting exciting engine but considering cronic severe back/neck problems the electric start 55cc or possibly 60cc twin is what should be done.

Yes, I fly off a smooth hard surface with lawn quality grass besides and over runs which helps a lot.
Also I use a rudder gyro......O'my goodness HE's using a gyro...must not know how to use HIS rudder stick.
Ya, let me have it ...experts....I have only been in this hobby for 55 years.
That gyro can sense a swerve coming before I can see it happening.
All my warbirds have them.
I will now run for the bunkers.....

I am very interested in trying a gyro for this 190 and in my 101" me109. I have no shame saying I've scraped my wingtips and folded the gear in my 109....maybe a little . it's a long cold winter so there should be plenty of time to explore the options before spring.

I use JR gyros with my Futaba 14MZ. Also with my old JR 10 still on 72. Have them on the side slider so I can vary the gain from nothing to sensitive on TO and landing.
I do not use "Heading Hold". Some warbirds don't mind a little help on the rudder in windy rough conditions to stop the tail wiggle in level flight.
But some birds don't like it at all (like FW 190) in level flight...no TOP rudder in bank turns. My TF 51's like a little in level flight to smooth out tail wiggle I think from air going around that big canopy??

Probably the JR.....Futaba has one but after sending two of them back with identical problems I wouldn't recommend it, the GYA 401 or 431 I don't remember. The only other one I would recommend is the Demon 3 axis which is made in Germany and very expensive but worth the money

Do you have a link for the Demon 3 axis brand?
Thanks

Powerbox how has their new e-gyro available....I just got a couple.....they have one more channel than the Cortex; appear to work essentially the same.....haven't used it yet, so can't attest to performance, but they are always first class technology. Can get them full price for $250 and I've seen lower as well.

Thanks Mirored & n8622 I think it is time to move up to something better then what I have now. At 73 I can still enjoy flying these warbirds but would like to relax a little more.
Both links were helpful. As I am already using all my 14 channels looks like I just keep using my one gain channel. Thanks guys

The EME 70cc is 240mm (9.4") wide measured from the ends of the two spark plugs. I measured the FW-190 cowl from just before it tapers to the front of the cowl, it measures 272mm (10.7"), so there is plenty of room to fit the twin 70cc. No need to cut any holes in the side of the cowl for the spark plug wires or cylinder heads.

Thanks.

I got a reply to my email to mile high rc in regards to if the 70 twin will fit the TF 190. mike @ mile high said that in 2 weeks he will have received his own TF 190 and will be able to tell me for sure if it fits. so I will wait and of course I will pass on what I find out.
in the mean time I did buy the topflite robart air retracts, keep it simple.i also went with hs-645mg servos as they have served me well in other models.

that would be great bear! I am nearly positive that it will fit as I printed off the dimensions and measured my cowl but until someone physically tries it ... I thought if anything that the front plug would need some clearance.
