RE: New TF Sea Fury!!
Just an FYI. My 'Fury came in at 10 1/4 pounds dry. It lands well without the flaps at that weight. With the flaps down at the prescribed 2" it lands like a feather. The flaps seem to reduce the aileron sensitivity during landing (not that it's over sensitive during flight) and it just gets rock solid. I required a 2% mix to mix out the pitch change with them down.
I have my gear and flight mode assigned to the same switch so when I pull up the gear my trims automagically change to account for the new configuration. The gear do effect the trim a reasonable amount.
Finally, I found that the low rate elevator setting is great for scale like flight. The ailerons I run between the settings described in the plans and the rudder is set at max all the time. When you run up the throttle (I don't slam it) it takes a little up elevator to keep the prop off the deck and the tail wheel effective, during this first few feet you need the high rate rudder.
Scott.

I used the Robart 605HD with the scale length wire (no struts). I may change over to something a little sturdier. Due to the way the gear retracts into the wing the struts are not perpendicular to the ground when the gear is down and they tend to flex during the roll out unless I am perfect on the rudder. It would be nice to have some that opened > 90 degrees and a little more rigid.

RE: New TF Sea Fury!!
the flaps are brilliant my needs them because it wheighs 13lbs, which gives it great stability even in strong winds. Iwas a bit worried when i saw how they were connected with two bits of brass tube and a very thin piece of piano wire between them, but they work great. how far have you got with yours?

RE: New TF Sea Fury!!
I haven't even ordered it yet, I'm ironing out the wrinkles before I even get the box into my hands. My plan is(I work a week on- week off schedule at an isolated mine) to bring the kit to work once our new main residence complex is built(two months) and go hard every evening while I'm there. The bonus, I get to use a full blown airport at my disposal(summer of course).
When I'm back home for my week off I've got a pylon racer I'm finishing up, a Giles G-202 that has a bit of hanger rash, and I've also started scratch building a DeHavilland Twin Otter .40 x2.
I must say I've been having a bit of trouble getting to sleep lately, seeing all the sharp Sea Fury's everybody's built, makes me want to get one now.

I built the Great Planes model, It went together like a dream, I would have to say it's a little underpowered with a .61 2stroke(no hang time), and I still need to trim it out for flawless loops.

RE: New TF Sea Fury!!
New to RCU, but around 5 years building and flying...
Nice to see all the Sea Furies! Mine is glassed, with panel lines
and thousands of rivets...all markings and numbers painted with
airbrush. Full cockpit/OS 1.20/CJ non-scale 1/2" struts....

You use to fly down here?
Mark, awesome sea fury, how much does it weigh all glassed and all? Im not sure if im going to glass this one because i want to keep it light in our thin air. Probably just put a coat of flat clear over the covering once finished

RE: New TF Sea Fury!!
Thanks guys,
It weighs 10-1/2 lbs, and I had to add 14oz. of nose weight , but I knew it would
seem tail heavy with that long fuse and short nose, so I hollowed out the tail tip
block and was very sparing with filler anywhere behind the CG....This will be my
tactic with the new TF P47 jug I am building too, and I will put lightening holes in
the tailgroup ribs as well...."keep it light" is my #1 priority
