RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
George, Check out a good bike shop in your area. I think the little detachable bike helmet mirrors we talked about might work perfect for this. I think they're just about the same size with a little parabolic shape to them. Mounting and shaping it seems pretty easy judging by the look of the thing. Might be a good place to start before trying to fab something. Short of a real mirror, mirror is a tough thing to simulate.

Here's a pic of one I found at REI. Close, but not quite perfect. I think if you look around you might find one a bit more rectangular.

Or, there's these little guys. They stick right on the inside of your sunglass lenses and probably right on for size on the canopy there.

Hi Bossman, I am at the point of sheeting the wings on my Corsair. Some how it just did not
feel right without sheer webs in the outer pannels so I added them, both sides of the spar out
to the aileron servo bay. Can't hurt......right?

OK guys, I got one for you[&o], I was talking to one of my club members todayat the LHS discussing Arrowshafts vs 4-40 threaded rods, he is of the opinion that with the threaded rods as PUSHRODS that i'm asking for trouble[>:] even going down inside the plastic tube supplied in the kit, he claims with the ANT. running down the length of the fuse that there will be all kinds of interferrence,so therefore his answer to eliminate this is to use ARROWSHAFTS.

LOL, I had the same feeling when I built my wing. Yes the webs made the wing stiffer at that point in the construction but when the sheeting is applied you really don't need the webs. Depending on what you used the weight added shouldn't be much.

Your frind is Right IF you have metal to metal fittings, and you are useing the old am radio's that is my under standing from the radio fokes and my experiance. Sence I have gone to FM and the computer radio I have used both and never had a problem, I used the metal rods in my first corsair, aand Iam using them again in the current build.
please E-mail me your address and I will send you the dwg of the muffler as I am tried of fighting with this scanner...

Thanks Pete, like I said it didd'nt feel right. Every thing I have built in the last four years has
had sheer webs. I hope to have the wing sheeting finished today. Retracts will be here Thursday
and I can start on the fuse.

Hey Bossman,
I see your hanging out , come on in the water is fine.
How you doing on your build? Did you ever expect this kind of response in the thread ?

Since you showed your tail I guess I can show mine. This is my Top Flight that will hopefully be done this spring. Looking at a Saito 100, keeping the retracts and doing the flaps. Keep up the good work on yours. Hopefully there is some new pics in here soon. Please critique mine as needed. This is my first warbird, or model of this size. Thanks

FlyBoy,
First thing you should do is take those old Robart retracts and throw them in the trash or sell them on ebay if you want to sabotage another's project! They are junk and will never work in my opinion. Did you buy that thing on ebay? Good luck with the project!

Well those retracts came with the kit. I got it from a friend for free. He didn't have a lot of the parts or the plans. So I have to make due. Are the air retracts any better? Suggestions welcome. Thanks guys

What retracts should I use then. I really think they are cool and would like to use them on the plane, but I'm not sure which ones to use.
