Hi Johnnie Red, I like to take this opportunity to sent you here a ‘thank you’. After our PM exchange long time ago – I decided to go for the Solo Propeller.
I have to say there is a lot of BS on RCU about the Solo Prop, like they throw blades or they are not efficient. These statements are written mostly from guys who NOT own one.
There was a post “yeah we heard a strange sound, but with more throttle it went away and then the prop broke†DUH. I don’t go further this is self explaining.
Well I own one and I can say – that prop is awesome! Not only looks good it works good. Adjustable pitch – I set mine right on and I throttle up and lift with about half throttle. I run a 25 inch four blade 11 pitch on a Torch 90cc in a Top Flite GS P-47, 31 pounds dry.

here is a video of the 3rd of 4th flight – after the landing I discovered the set screw on the tail wheel came loose – there was a little steering. On top was this not my bets landing…
Anyhow, Solo Prop is for sale and he wants to get out. This business needs to be taken to the next level and he has not the time. I just hope Solo goes in the right hands because this product just completes a scale model.
There was a nice encounter at the flight line at the Warbirds over the Rockies, one pilot said “hey don’t you want to take off the static prop†My answer “ this is the flying prop†- there was silence for a minute…hahaha
I need is the spring/summer scale 3-blade for my ZP-38 powered by DA85’s…I’m looking for 2 new Solo Props…
Happy landings
G-Pete

G-Pete,
Great post. I've never seen a Solo prop go wrong, unless it was pilot error. They look incredible, they fly great and they sound great too. No, they are not cheap, you pay for them, but you get what you pay for. You should see the ones that Solo did for my buddies Fw 190 Anton and his He 123... incredible.

if someone said they heard a funny sound and then a blade broke, that sounds like of lack of preventive maintenance on the owner. how many people actually go around and tighten up their planes? i don't do it enough. we don't know that that blade didn't have a light strike of a heck of a bump in the trailer that could of stressed or cracked a blade. just my thoughts.

i would like to get some solo props if they are still avail.. Have not been able to find anything on them.. When you talk about gear box, i have a webra 91 with a gear box on it. will turn a 24 inch prop at 5800. Has never been ran. Going to put it in one of my planes but not sure what one yet. It has gears and well built.. Have had couple of people beg to buy it but its still here. about time to set it up and give it a try. Have a top flite p47 that might just give it try in and see just how well it works.
if anyone has any info on solo props, please drop a line on here. Would still love to try one.

Hey
I have just recived this message from Solo Props..
This message is to inform our customers that SOLO PROPELLERS has closed down production of all SOLO propeller products.
We would like to sincerely thank all of our loyal customers for your patronage over the years we have been in business, and wish you all the best in the future.
The assets of SOLO PROPELLERS are for sale on the open market. Our hope is that someone will pick up where we left off and continue supplying quality custom scale blades and propellers to fill this need in the R/C airplane market. www.soloprops.com is the site to watch for further developments.
If you are genuinely interested in purchasing the production assets of Solo Props, or if you know of someone who is, please have the interested party email me at [email protected] and I will send more information.
Thank You,
Carl Peter

Kind regards

It's a pitty that Solo went out of business. That was a big loss in the scale aeromodelling community. Unfortunately there are always people that beleive in their own way that solo was a bad product. For me there are no bad products. Only bad users. If the product is beyond somebody's expectation then he should not use it.
Although I have never had even a single problem with the particular product.
In my 25years of constant flying I have faced problems with broken blades during flight only by Master Airscrew props (the black coloured plastic ones). Never had any problem with solo's or Graupners, or Biela's or Menz, or Zinger's....
I am very unhappy that a straight foreword person like Carl went out of business. I wish that somebody whould go through this and buy the lot in order to continue this excellent product.

P.S. G-Pete your P-47 is marvelous. Very nice clip. !!!

Welcome to the new Solo Propellers. As you know Solo Props closed its doors in 2008 under much speculation. In late January/February 2009 I entered into contract talks with Carl Peter who was the owner. After many e-mails and phone calls later a contract was settled upon. For the months of March and April 2009 the business will be in the process of being packed up and moved to its new home in Florida. Carl Peter set the bar pretty high.
Its our goal to continue to supply the modeling community with high grade components in the form of propellers and hubs. The hubs will continue to be made by the same suppler thus insuring quality control. The blades will be manufactured using the same machines that Mr. Peter used. Our plan is to continue making as many blade profiles as possible and as fast as possible to insure that stock is available when ordered. But I will not compromise quality for quantity. We are going to use the same web site for your convenience which can be found at www.soloprops.com along with a new e-mail address which will be [email protected] . At this time the web site should be taken down in order to make the necessary changes to reflect new ownership. My goal is to have the site up and running within 30 days and I will be able to take orders soon after that with the available inventory that was purchased.
I have been an avid modeler for about 30 years with the last 7 or 8 strictly in giant scale. I have taken on this endeavor to ensure that the Solo line continues. I believe in the product and will do my very best to make sure that you are satisfied as well.
I look forward to hearing from you with any comments or suggestions that you might have and your continued support.
Best Regards,
Wayne Fussell

Yep that's right Solo is sold to Wayne Fussell of Stuart FL. So in the next few weeks the website will be updated and running (according the anouncment e-mail). As I said before Wayne, take your time and do it right! There is no need for rush...
We all just hope the prices did not change - at least that much[8D].
Good luck!

I can't wait. I have an order to place just as soon as you are up and running
I was trying to figure out alternatives for a while. Glad that I don't have to find one.

Hi All !
I'm new to RCU and this forum but not so new in modelling...
I'm currently working on a 70" KMP Bearcat which I'm planning to electrify just like Tahustvedt did with his Spitfire.
Will be something like a Hacker A60 on 10S1P 5000mAh.
I was hoping to use a 4 blader for scale looks and so I started looking in forums.
That's how I learned about this great forum and Solo props and to my big surprise I even saw a pic of Johnny Red's identical KMP bearcat with a Solo prop !!!
How lucky can a man get ?
So Johnny, would you be so kind to share me the details of your Solo prop setup (hub type, blade types, ....) ?
How does she fly ? Can you also give me some details of your Bearcat's configuration and RTF weight ?
I hope Soloprops will be back in business soon and I'll be one of their new customers !
Thanks to all for helping me out !
Regards,
Johan
