Cool thanks Spud. Hurry up and get her in the air so we can get a flight report. Then I can get some idea which engine I am going to use. Hey spitflier what engine do you have in your spitfire?

I recieved the kit today. From what I seen from removing it from the box it really looks nice. The decals are already applied and the paint looks real nice. I also liked that the exhausts were already attached to the cowl. I cant wait to start working on putting her together.

Getting close to finishing. Retracts work great. It includes restrictors. Get about 20 cycles out of a tank. Had to put washers under the two screws closest to the root to get it to sit paralel to the wing when retracted. No problems with the old school control rods. I did set the ele. horns at an angle for better geometry. There are no referance marks on the firewall for mounting the engine. So if you've built a couple models or had a couple of the more involved ARFs, you shouldn't have a problem here. This is a nice looking ARF. I'll get some pics if I can get the camera away from my daughter, its hers.

Wow you made quick work of it spud37. I finally started it last night. I went ahead and started with mounting the g-26. I removed the carb and jug and was able to center it with the cowl on. Worked like a charm since they didnt put any reference lines. I had a harder time putting the blind nuts on the inside of the firewall. My hand is too big to get in there. Tonight Ill probably start on the wing. Well see how that goes.

Okay the slimline is not the way to go with this one. Too much cutting. Just a straight pipe or a 90 deg out the side is the way to keep this cowl clean. To set the center for mounting ,just make cross on the fuel tank openning. The screws are short for the blind nuts. I used some US ardware I had laying around.
Hey no flaps I can't get a camera right now. Just remember the spits flaps were more for reducing speed as compared to lift generating flaps.

Hey Spud37 is there a way to keep the retracts closed while they are being mounted. I am trying to get the axles centered in the wheel well and I cant figure out how to keep them closed.

Well I finished the wing and mounted the tail surfaces and tailwheel. Can anybody explain how they mounted the front air scoop below the fueslage. I was looking to keep it removeable. The instructions stated to use a wooden dowel to screw to. I am not quite understanding what there talkin about.

Well just about finished the plane just have a few odds and ends to finish up. On the retracts I had a problem with the wheels slamming shut into the wing. There is no adjustment on the valvle I received to slow down the retracts. A friend told me about using a wheel collar on the air hose to the wing to slow the air down which slows down the retraction. It worked pretty good. I ended up cutting more cowl than I like using the g 26. The carb sticks out on one side and you have the exhuast on the other. Other than that I love the way this plane looks. I still have to balance the plane. So I have not secured the battery pack yet. Has anyone flown theirs yet?

the review in RCU said they had to add 16oz of lead to make her balance with the OS91. im just wondering if there would be enough room under that cowl to stuff in a side mounted Saito 180 /with a pitts muff? that should just about let me do away with the lead...anyone?[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

Sorry been out of town. Look at the small bags that came with the gear. There is a small bag with two little silver restricters for the air lines. just one in the line slows it down nice.

Take a look at the August 2007 issue of Fly RC mag pages 84 to 88.
This is an in-depth review of the plane using an O.S. .91 Surpass.
I do not see any reference to a SPE 26 engine.

It is not featured in that magazine...just the SPE 26 engine they are offering with it. The plane and engine combo is $599.95, and air retracts are included. I am saving my pennies right now for it. I already have all the components waiting. Anyone else got it or going to get it? Looks pretty sweet.

Ordered one and waiting for it to arrive. Has anyone flown their's yet? How much room under the cowl is there? Thinking of putting a 26GT with a inverted pitts muffer in her.

Looks OK to me! They put the bubble in to give the taller pilots more head room, and better vis behind them. Kit is well packaged and very nice. Blind nuts are not installed and there is no template for the engine mount. I will need help centering the engine!

I used a g 26 for my engine. what I did was stand the pane on its tail and placed the engine on the firewall. I then slid on the cowl and centered it with the center back plate onto the cowl. Of course I had to take the jug off the engine to be able to slide the cowl over it. worked like a charm. I was also able to get the exact dimensions of what I had to cut off the cowl having the engine already mounted and able to slide the cowl over it. I didnt get any of those air restrictors. I used a wheel axle collar.

Sorry about the air restricter. My retract valve was bad so I used an old spring air one I had lying around. I need to finish the fuel tank hook up and radio reciever and mine should be ready to go. I have been side tracked by a H9 Cub my wife bought for me. Also a nice plane. I have had several CG anniv Cubs in the past and this one has those beat hands down. The Spit will be ready by Sept for sure.[img][/img][img][/img][img][/img]

I finallyf finished mine last night. Hopefully I will get to maiden it today. I got to say this is a real nice looking plane. I had to buy some touchup paint where I had chipped some of the dark green paint off. Any body know what size of pilot fits in the canopy?
