Thanks for the comments Gary.
I will have the paint masks for you shortly.
As far as the wing goes, The design has been around since 1994. Only one issue that came up recently on a 10 year old model that had a problem but that had nothing to do with it being 2 piece. I guess if you have the room to load a surfboard then make it a one piece. Personally I see no reason for it. The guys at the shop like a one piece. Its a matter of preference. A one piece wing is always stronger in the long run.
Looks like we will leave ours a two piece. We can always join them in the future if need be. I wish 'Big Ass Bird' was a razor, it really fits.

Making some progress on our Jug. All the wing parts are now built, including the gear doors, glassed, and we are ready for priming and metal on them. The fuselage is coming along as well with more sheeting and fillet work done. Pictures soon.

Here are some pictures of our progress. The wings are over half done in metal now. All the doors are done too. Fuselage is coming along and will be closed up in a week or so, I hope.

We were disappointed when we did the math on the Flight Metal. We expected that the kit we got would do the whole plane, but as it is, we will be doing good to get the wings and tail feathers. You get 75 lin. ft. Not near enough, as it turns out, to do our 1/5 scale bird. Granted, the P-47 is a large fighter, but we aren't even close to having enough. Perhaps the waste isn't accounted for. Looks like we will try some of Dino's material after all.

Haven't even started on the rivet detail.[]

Can anyone tell me what the 1/5 scale rivet per inch number is? I know, for instance, the ones on the gear doors are larger and farther apart, but what is the count on the seams and inner rivets? Thanks.

Our wings are now 'metal' less the top of the wing tips. These will be done tomorrow. The rudder and elevators are being glassed. I am continuing on the fuselage and my brother will detail the cockpit parts for installation.

Hey guys,
Here are some progress shots of the P-47

Hey, that landing light is the bomb. No, wait a minute, that's the thing that goes on the hard point. Is that the fiberglass one or is it made of wood? Looks good. These plastic ones seem like they need a lot of reinforcing. The cockpit is awesome as well. My brother just finished ours and I pick it up tonight. I'll post a picture of it as well.

Gary,
The landing light is part of the light system we sell... However, the housing is scratch made.
The fuse was build in 2005 and is all built up. I have two of them in finishing mode. The other was from 1995 Top Gun. Thats wood as well.

Gee Dino,

I don't think that cockpit is very scale...the fuel pressure gauge really wasn't there and oh yeah, I don't think the panel was made of plastic!!!

Remember mine? Lol one in every crowd! Love the plane bro!

Knew about the fuselages, I was wondering about the hard points. We have the ABS ones and they seem fragile. Yours look like they could be built up. We'll add some balsa to ours and make them removable. The plane looks great. Keep the updates coming.
