Alex is working on a Ziroli Zero, but will repair the '47. They are practically giving away the full kits with the popularity of the ARF's, and we realized that the kit is a cheaper source of parts than ordering separately. The Mustang is mine, a combo of an old crashed wing with an ARC fuse that was laying around for years, and a G-62 I got for doing a dent .I had retracts from one that I had crashed about 7 years ago. Just like my Meister, it is a junkyard dog..........lol.......Doug

Hey guys, this is kinda cool. Wayne Fussel informed me that Zombie was pictured in this UK magazine. Would never have know. Wayne apparently subscribes to it. Here is the magazine and the picture. We appear right under Frank Tiano's Meister, the one damaged at WOG this year.
Looks like an interesting magazine. May need to look into it.

BTW, I'm sending my registration in for MP 2011 this week. And I'm working on the motel reservations as well.
Wayne, for the tent, it looks like three planes for us. Zombie, the 110" Corsair (folding wings to save hanger space), and the electric 85" Aeroworks P-51.

Thanks for the tip. I just subscribed to it. It looks like a cool magazine, and I bet they have pictures of some of those monsters they build in the UK, right? Do you think I'll get the September issue, or will I have to order it separately?

I've got mine all filled out, just have to send it in.
As far as the tent, if you want to send me the $$, I'll collect it from Pedro as well and get it up to Steve Thomas.

We have you parts. We'll be on it soon. Still need to talk about how you will mount it, so I know what foundation to use. We'll post pictures when we get started on it. I picked up some new materials for it that I found at a ham radio show, that will make it even better that the first, I think.

Let me back up a bit. Brian and I were approached by a local gentleman who wanted us to build him a competition worthy Corsair and then campaign it. He loves giant war birds but is a very new pilot himself. He had bought a kit that we decided was not the best place to start, so we switched to the CARF F4U. Subsequently, I stumbled across a second new airframe while looking for a Moki for the first. It came with the engine, Solo Prop, all 8711 servos, air cylinders, fuel system with pump, all gear and doors installed, and more. All new. Now we will have two airframes. One will be competition grade (#2), and #1 will be a spare for testing systems and breaking in the engine. It will be maidened in gel-coat, and then painted.
Now oour owner has bought an Aeroworks P-51 that was converted to electric (we maidened it today), and a Ziroli P-51. We will be flying these as well. After flying the P-51 today, I mentioned how cool it would be to do a Ziroli P-38 with the same systems in it. (could be in our future)
We plan to get back on the Jug as soon as #2 Corsair is done. We would not have had it done in time for the 2012 season. I don't even have the fuselage yet, as I planned to pick it up while at Top Gun, and then couldn't make the trip. Looks like it will be Monster Planes till we can get the rest of the parts.
Not the way I had originally thought this would go, but I am really enjoying getting to work with these quality CARF F4Us. They are a very nice platform to begin a scale build with. I am looking forward to flying this Moki as well. What a treat. . It will be a privilege to fly them at events.
I'm glad that Scott and Frank are making such good progress and can keep the thread going till we get underway in earnest. We will also be able to benefit from what they are doing.

BTW, I heard from Bruce at CJM that the rest of the parts for our gear was shipped to Mitch at D&L.
Looks like we should have it back maybe Monday or Tuesday.
I'm expecting the total cost of the repairs to be about $280. All things considered, better than I had hoped.
Bruce installed new lower struts and yokes with the upgraded bolts instead of the rivets in the oleos, and replaced both mounting housings, trunnions, and the bent upper strut.
Mitch disassembled his motor / transmission assemblies and replaced the jack screws, and also is upgrading the control box to the one designed for 7.4 Lipos. A decrease in travel time results. All he has to do now is test the fully assembled gear with tires and time them.

Got some painting done. The challenge is 'aging' the new paint. (more pictures of that tomorrow) Right wing is fixed, here is the left. It will be done tomorrow night. Because it was a repair in the painted area, Brian didn't worry about patching the aluminum on the seams. It can easily be feathered in and new patch will not show.
