Thats some of the best weathering I've seen. Where did you learn how to do it? Ive seen some books around.

thanks for the pics jmohn the retract looks great. I noticed the servo that controls it in the tail and would like to know if two servos would sit side by side in that area tail where your servo is sitting?

Guys
here is a great resource for detailing and weathering yer birds.

http://www.rcscalebuilder.com/tutorials.asp

Lots of good ideas and all free!!!!! There are also some great tutorials on youtube. Most are aimed at smaller 48th and 72nd scale models but can be used effectively on our size of models.

The link above has a great tutorial on adding panel lines to models - something the wings and stab this baby desperately needs! Now I just have to match the paint ...

Hi Guys,

Here is a video of my La7 from Esm.

I'm the guy who flies the one third scale LA - 7 from Scalewings in Austria and the Esm flies just as well at a small percentage of the price of the large one!!!!

I did the dvd just to showcase the engine, as alot of guys are putting in 50cc engines in this airframe and wanted to show that a good 28cc is more than enough for this great airframe.

My model is not yet fully completed. I,ve just ordered Ty,s great cockpit kit and obviously need to do some weathering and finishing and the final weight will end up at close to 20lbs(I,ll let you know the final weight!) I use Sierra retracts although the ESm,s ones would have worked well

On the day of filming it was incredibly hot here in sunny Orlando

My personal thanks to my good friend and customer Peter Ashton for his time and great filming and editing. Thanks Peter

It looks like your strut covers blew off like mine had done. Probably replace it with an aluminum sheet. I have G45 on mine and this plane is pretty fast and that 28cc you have is just fine too.

Yes you are correct. They however did not blow off but broke when I did the first landing with them on.

I,ve already got new ones on but have made them shorter so that they do not interfear when the landing gear telescopes on landing

Best wishes

Steve

Very cool vid. I'm waiting for the next shipment to get mine. Can't decide on the ESM or Serria retracts. I like the looks of the ESM wheels.

Very cool video and the engine is impressive. I've also just discovered that our local hobby shop stocks these so I may just have to purchase the engine.

Can you advise what, if any, changes were required to mount the engine to the LA-7?

Great tip on the gear doors Steve, I always use oversized tires and mount the wheel pants a little high on my Aerobatic 3D birds so I will make sure the gear doors will also clear the grass as well
Thanks Jimmy

I was told it was the cost incurred to bring them into Canada. KMP is located in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

I love my LA-7! I know its the wrong spinner and no gear doors but just having fun flying it, its such a great flyer. You do however need to catch the rudder fairly quickly on take off on cement, rudder is not effective till the tail comes up.

Hey FW190, I owe you and apology, I thought you were electric[:@] Is that a DL55 under that cowl? Ive got the 55 and the 30 and was planning on the 30 but I wont have the plane until Sept or Oct so I have plenty of time. I received the Sierras and the Ty cockpit but waiting for the airframe. So, let me know which engine you are running and what you think about it. Great Photos send more

thanks Jimmy Check out my "skyshark p40 build"

No problemo! I am using a Zenoah G45, however any 30cc can easily fly this plane. The DLE55 might be a little too much power and shake it quite a bit.

Hey thats a T-6 Spinner, thats what Im putting on my LA7, its a three blade cut so I may have to go with the bigger engine to get the right size prop, looks cooooooool

Ty was warning me of the same problem, that plane just isnt built for a huge overpowering plant...I will probably stay with the 30cc and save the 55 for something else, KMP is 3-4 months out from an 85" FW190 Dora. That may be something to look forward too

your spinner looks like a 4 inch or is it a 4 1/2inch. mine is a 4 but I dont care if it looks anything like yours when I get it on i will be completely thrilled. what paint did you use on the spinner, it looks like you matched it perfectly

I am sorry for rigging my my ARFs cheaply, I buy them just to fly and they are great practice planes with no worries about how much time and money I have put into them as it is with my built warbirds. That is just a cheap Tatone dome style spinner 3.25" in red. It came off my crashed Zero ARF, in fact same G45 came along with it, they do have a 4.5" closer spinner shape to the LA-7 but they are out of stock on them.

If you grab the stab on the LA-7 you can easily fish tail the fuselage because is very soft, I would put at least a former between the tail and wing, even if your flying it with a 30cc.
