well guys..guess we'll see if all the hard work will pay off. Got the zero about 90% completed to my satisfactory. Its ready to fly for the airshow down in Pt. St. Lucie this weekend, i'll be finishing it (detail) at a later date, but i'v got it ready to fly. So give me luck! i'll be posting pictures of this weekends event. Thanks for all the support!

V...I used the robart 632 set up. Its a 90 degree retract with a 4" offset 1/2" diameter strut with a 4" wheel. The demensions from robart allowed variably minimal retrofitting into the wings. The length demention to go into the wheel well was right on as well. If i could go back, i would consider going with the #153. its a larger setup and accepts up to a 6" wheel. Would have looked a little better, but the 632 are bout 150 bucks on the cheaper side!!! They still look alright tho.

i was thinking of buying this plane. its the 50cc one..80"? will i be able to mount a 3w-50i in it?? it has the rear carb

Josh..yes the 50cc is the 80" version. There should be no problem in you mounting that powerplant. The kit includes a custom mount that will accept a real mounted carb engine like yours. I had to fab. my own mount to accept the US 41. I think the 50 will fly the plane 100% perfect!

Well guys, this weekends event was a success! The zero flew a glitch free 5 strong flights on sat. My brother and myself arrived at the field late friday afternoon. I finished installing the spectrum DX7 around 8 that evening! Sat. morning woke up , tested all equipment, and off she flew. It was to many people's suprised when they found out that this model once used to be an ARF! THat surprise is exactly what i was shooting for. After the event, my brother and i drove back sat evening to daytona and was way to tired to unload everything. I woke up this morning, descided i just didn't feel like ending the weekend just yet. I took the zero to my home field and really let her loose! Thanks guys for following my thread, i'll be posting pictures of the show later. I wanna give out a special thanks to Dino DiGiorgio and my brother PJ Ash with Meister Scale and Aero Accessories for all your support and my supply needs! I feel that I am now one step closer to the manyh steps it takes to get to Top Gun. I can see a Meister with my name on it in the near future. Thanks again and dirty side down!

Good work on your paint job!

Just purchased this kit and waiting for it to come in. How did you do your elevator gear? Some builds show that they are putting their servos up front and running carbon or fiberglass rods to the rear. What is your set up?

MSC, I located both servos in the actual horizonal stab itself, i used the DS 821's from JR and they still fit, now if i could go back and do it over, i prob woudln't hesistate putting the servos in center of the fuse more towards the CG. That way you won't have to worry about adding weight to the nose like I did. But when you get the plane, you will notice that hatches have already been cut to mount the servos in the horizonal stab, makes it look clean as well. Let me know how your progess comes around!

Ouch! Was it a corsair. They're pretty ruthless I hear.

I mounted my elev servos up by the cg and still had to build a led box over the engine. 2lbs of led. But flys good with a saito 120 at 14lbs 3oz. The cmp (71") zero wing is pretty stout. I did an unintentional wounded carrier landing, yeah thats it! It hit pretty hard and bounced up high and nose high attitude. Recipe for disaster. But I was able to power thru it and stay airborn for another pass and greased it right in. A couple of ribs split on both sides of the retract mount but held together to make a good landing. Just wish I had done that on the previous landing. I only have about 5 flights on it but all, with this exception, have be great. Should be an easy fix.

Thanks for the compliment! Mine is the 50cc version 82" span i believe. Sorry to hear about your zero! Have you ever thought about purchasing a battery backup system for your birds. I have one in my zero from electrodynamics. It uses both batterys and draws them down equally, if it senses a bad battery, it eliminates it from the system and runs off the other battery. I'm using 1500MAH (2) in the zero. Called an EDR 108. Great insurance for the money! Let me knwo if you want details.

Got the plane and I see what your talking about with the elevator set up. Not sure if I'll go ahead with mounting them on the cg or not. I am moving the rudder servo to CG and use a pull pull system. I'll hook up a wire set up to the rudder and run it into the fuse. I should be able to connect the tail wheel set up connected to the rudder horns.

I will use a DA 50 up front and have purchased robart 671's struts. They are on back order so not sure how long it will take to come in.

I'm interested in the EDR 108 if you can post. Thinking of running duel 2100 Li-Ions with 6 volt regulators on the RX side and a 1800 ma NM on the DA 50.

Worked a little more on the rudder. Installed brass tubing for the fin linkage set up. Getting ready to install rudder tomorrow. Got the engine box done just need to pin it and will be ready to dry fit the engine...

Worked on the tail wheel and rudder set up. Not sure this is going to work. I'm relying on the screw on the bell cranks and am not sure they will be secured enough. Wish I could figure out a way to weld the whole unit. Hopefully it will remain tight enough to keep the tail wheel in line.

Put the DA 50 on the nose and working to set it up. Will more than likely start on the tail assembly this weekend. Here are a few pic's.

Bubs The Zero came out nice. Can you tell me the dementions of the cowl? I am going to build an Oscar and a Kate. The cowl are pretty simmilar. Have you had to order any parts for your Zero from CMP? Thanks Rich

Just measured mine and it's approximately 9 1/2 inches in diameter and 8 1/4 long.

fishdeth, It's actually a pretty decent model considering the price. When retracts cost more than the kit I feel rather lucky... Going slow on this end. I've been working on an access door for switches, fuel, smoke and air connections. Taking longer than I wish but I wanted something to mess around with every now and then. Still waiting on robarts to come in. Ordered the 730's from Tower and still haven't come in.
