Go for it, it'll be ok. If you can, ditch the Tamiya style connectors, they're complete junk. Swap over to some Deans connectors and you won't go back.

I don't have a 4v specific charger, so I'm closely monitoring the battery as it charges. It's a 4v 10ah battery. How many cells is this? What should the peak voltage be when fully charged?

No matter what you do you should reinforce the bottom of the boats hull with resin and fiberglass cloth. If you're keeping the submerged drive you might even consider glassing up around the motor...

Here are a couple of pics of the Hammer EP converted to surface drive. I'm now using 16 cells instead of 14 and the boat is a good bit quicker...enough to where it's kind of boring going back to 14!...

You did the right thing by cutting off the shrink, it makes drying them out a lot easier. Just dry them out and they should be just fine.

You didn't mention if you run in fresh or salt water....

That's a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry slow charge, so going over a couple hours isn't going to hurt anything. If the battery was dead it would take 11 hours and 40 minutes to charge it full.

I use a gundert on one of my boats, but if I had to do it again I would use this way. It has less drag and works great.

With your hull it should work all the time. Even with a surface drive, if properly placed will work very well. Use large diameter fuel tubing and a brass tubing that's as large as you can use and...

The motors are the EXACT SAME minus a bearing. How can it "not even hold a candle to the cordite"?

Given both motors are run in the same, they'll run side by side all day long.
