RE: Combat Videos?

Eric and Carl Bitondo put up quite a bit of WWCC combat footage on YouTube.

RE: Vintage Boat Identification... can anyone help?

You don't show a side view, but I have a feeling it's a Dumas Chris Craft. Look at this page of Dumas Boats and see if there's a match.

John Drain's PT boat site is www.pt-boat.com (without the s on the end)

RE: MWCI rules

Having just been sunk twice by torpedo cruisers and destroyers in Sunday's battle, I would put our (1:144) club's Capitani Romanis up against any combat ship in any scale, and my money would be on...

RE: MWCI rules

I didn't know there was a club battling with MWCI rules near San Jose, UMI. San Jose is where our Big Gun club battles (WWCC). Is there a fast gun club closer to San Jose than Southern California?

RE: Battle Coming Up in San Francisco Bay Area

Hey Bob,

We have a battle coming up this Sunday, actually. You can get all the answers to your questions on our website at www.westernwarshipcombat.com

We battle at Penitencia Creek, and...

RE: who knows about scalespeed.com?

Actually, they seem rather small to me, for the price. The Italian torpedo boat is less than 2 feet long, and the price is going to be over US$500 with shipping and insurance.

RE: Li-Po's and boats?

I wouldn't recommend using a lithium battery of any kind in a boat. They are used quite successfully by serious indoor and park flyer modelers, but they require a much higher level of attention than...

RE: Epoxy clogging paper!!!

The thing to remember is that epoxy resin cures with heat. The mixture of resin and hardener generates heat with an exothermic reaction that increases with thickness, and that includes thickening...

RE: 1/72nd Scale Combat Nationals

I ran the LST a couple of times in campaign scenarios, and people love to see it operate, but it really doesn't fit into RC warship combat very well - at least the way the game is normally played....

RE: 1/72nd Scale Combat Nationals

That's great, Umi! You may not know it, but I introduced the radar gun approach to Big Gun combat WWCC 4 years ago. The only alternatives are the 100' course and a speed trap. The 100' course is...

RE: 1/72nd Scale Combat Nationals

How did the radar gun work out? Was it an improvement over whatever you did previously?

RE: 1/72nd Scale Combat Nationals

Hi Umi,

Looks like you had some fun at this one. What was the largest number of ships that participated in the same battle? Any sinks?

RE: 1/144 Gato class sub

Actually, we have a couple of combat subs in our club (WWCC) that are deadly. Building and effectively campaigning a sub is difficult, but not impossible. However, the subs are the Surcouf (French)...

RE: destroyers too small?

Both John and Wreno make good points. It really depends on your building and mechanical skills, and your preferences. True, destroyers can't go toe to toe with cruisers or battleships, but they can...

RE: destroyers too small?

Actually, destroyers are really making a big splash in some Big Gun clubs. Look through the pictures on our club (Western Warship Combat Club) website, and you will see quite a few destroyers:

RE: BIG DESTROYER!!!! Bow thruster problem

Sorry if this shows up twice, but is this destroyer going to be used in combat? If so, what scale is it? 1:72?

Thanks,

RE: Battle Coming Up in San Francisco Bay Area

There's a wise guy in every crowd. :)

Thanks for the heads up, Wreno. Yes, it's definitely the Month of August, and I'm definitely losing all sense of time (along with many of my brain cells)....

Battle Coming Up in San Francisco Bay Area

If anybody is interested in watching a Big Gun RC warship battle, and meeting people who build and battle Big Gun warships in the San Francisco Bay area, Western Warship Combat Club (WWCC) is holding...

RE: 1/72nd Combat Nationals-message repeating...

Hi Traxxasfreak,

I don't live in Texas, but there is a 1:144 club in the Dallas/Ft worth area: North Texas Battle Group, and Umi would know if there's a 1:72 scale club in Texas. I belong to a...

RE: 1/72nd Combat Nationals-message repeating...

The only thing I would suggest is to consider that the larger the size of the vessel, the fewer the number of people who will build and battle one. As a 4-year veteran of a 1:144 rc warship combat...
