Profile "spring cleaning"

Hey guys, my profile has been hanging in the shop all winter and now that it's warming up I'd like to check it over to make sure nothing has become loose or brittle. Any spots that I should check...

favorite 3D plane

OMP Edge 540P Funfly (small), because I haven't flown anything bigger. Still, an awesome 3d flyer.

Hats off to you profile flyers!!!

Something is wrong. My edge flies like a trainer on low rates (well, almost). I use alot of expo, -60% (Futaba) on ele and aileron. My CG is a little behind the recommended. It climbs when inverted....

OMP 540 build

I had to enlarge the slot a little with a round file to get the joiner wire in. You only need room for the stab w/ tri-stock and the wire. The elevator doesn't go through the slot, but you connect...

Should I re-do my Avistar wing?

Yes, the rod was bent and poked through the sheeting after cracking some ribs. But I cut power immediately and was able to land. The old rod I still have if you want a picture of it.

One thing...

Should I re-do my Avistar wing?

Yes, definately epoxy the wing halves together. On my Avistar the only thing holding the wing together was those metal strips, and I am very lucky the wing didn't separate during a high speed loop....

Build your own PBF (Pizza Box Flyer, Flying Pizza Box)

My PBF has exactly the same problem, it is very hard to control while inverted. Let me know if Graeme Marion's suggestion fixes the problem.

OMP Edge 540 Advise

Hi Mike,
Yes, 3001s are fine but you may want to jump up to 6 volts to give them more speed and torque. Cheaper servos are fine too. On my 540 I will be using s3003s with a 6v NiMH pack. It's way...

My new OMP little Edge

Hey guys, here's my Edge. It's my second kit/covering job so it's ugly but hey, it's just a profile. Power will be an Irvine .53 with 12x4 wood prop. Should be awesome.

Sig SE and Irvine .53 prop

Depends on what you want to do with it, but if you want thrust for hovering, try a 12x4 wood.

sledge vs omp edge

The current OMP kit comes with all the wood you need plus prebent wire landing gear, wire elevator joiner, and wire tail skid.
You just need the pushrods, control horns, clevises, etc.
