RE: Are Tamiya tanks relevant at their cost?

Tamiya will be relevant as long as there is no competition in their class. There will always be people who won't settle for "good enough" (absolutely nothing wrong with that) -particularlythe ones...

RE: Are Tamiya tanks relevant at their cost?

I get the feeling you didn't read my entire post, including the "edit"...

AAF only ships UPS. So by the time UPS adds their brokerage fees, it will cost $1,200 in Canada :P<br type="_moz" />

RE: Are Tamiya tanks relevant at their cost?

Interesting conversation, and I've seen the same argument with RC planes in the Kit vs. RTF, as well as airsoft in the Tokyo Marui/Classic Army et. al. vs. cheap Chinese clones.<div></div><div>With...

RE: Airsoft Cannon conversion?

Someone did it with a Tiger. It would involve a lot of scratch building.

RE: Panzerkampfwagen M4A1(76)W - Review

This is probably jumping the gun, but any idea when we'll see some of the varients?

RE: Panzerkampfwagen M4A1(76)W - Review

This is true. I don't really care much which hull it's on.. I just want a Canadian tank with the QF 17-pounder :D

RE: Panzerkampfwagen M4A1(76)W - Review

I'd really love to try and mod one into a recognisable VC Firefly. I think that would involve a complete turret rebuild though :(

RE: Panzerkampfwagen M4A1(76)W - Review

Swath, and idea how well the plastic gearbox will hold up?

Edit: nvm, saw your reply to my post on RC groups.

RE: My Gift To You - M4A1(76)W

Well, this is true. I'd have gladly paid more for the Sherman if it had Swathdiver's functional VVSS design. It's unfortunate that a community member, who knows what people want, put in such time and...

RE: My Gift To You - M4A1(76)W

Noone is denying that a ton of effort went into this design. But at the same time, just because it's the first release of something from Mato, and just because it's an M4, doesn't mean those of us...

RE: The Shermans are in at Mato

Likewise.. there are those of us who choose to wait and see what kind of aftermarket upgrades come out before purchasing. Doesn't make our opinion or decisions any less valid than yours.

RE: The Shermans are in at Mato

Fair enough... it still has a metal GB with a decent suspension.

RE: The Shermans are in at Mato

Agreed. I'd pay $300 for a high quality RTRR/C tank. That price range isn't too low to create a good replica.

Interesting how R/C tanks just seem to be on the end of two extremes.

RE: The Shermans are in at Mato

I'm certainly not expecting a $150 toy to be perfect. Perhap you're right about the hype. I was at least hoping though it would be equivalent in quality to my current HL tanks.. doesn't quite look...

RE: The Shermans are in at Mato

The scale problems don't bother me all that much.. I'm not expecting to get a perfectly scaled and detailed R/C tank for twice the cost of a static model kit. I by R/C tanks to drive around, not to...

RE: The Shermans are in at Mato

Yea, but why should we have to dump another $100+ into it to make it actually workable? My argument isn't that it can't be modded into something great... it's more that for $163CAD, I would expect a...

RE: The Shermans are in at Mato

Hmm.. I was actually considering this instead of a Panther or KV-1. I could live with the scale issues -I'm not that nit-picky- but it does look like a cheap toy, and the crappy suspension really...

RE: New HL Panhter at Mato

Ah, ok. From what I've read it seems the Cromwell was actually quite common. I'd love to have an RCone of those. I agree about the Comet too.. one of those would be wicked. Convcievably you could mod...

RE: New HL Panhter at Mato

Works out to about $148 CDN vs. $142 from Mato.. then we have to add shipping (probably about the same either way)... but I'd be worried about how much CBSAis going to screw me ordering from the US.
