RE: Twinstar?????

Unfortunately, this plane has been discontinued by Hobbico for some time now. I`ve never flown it, but people who have seem to think it was a fine one.

RE: The all mighty wind !

I know with this outlook I might not advance my skills as quickly as someone else, but for me it`s when I spend more time worrying about getting the plane down in one piece than I do having fun.

RE: HOORAY FOR SIG!!!

A high quality company, at least as far as my experience ( 4*series ) is concerned. Wouldn`t mind at all seeing them expanding their product lines ( kits and/or ARFs ) into a line of semi-scale or...

RE: My turn,, I Soloed!!!

Great Job!!! Congrats, it`s a great feeling isn`t it? Fly the wings off your trainer and remember, particularly as a newly soloed pilot, ALTITUDE AND AIR SPEED ARE YOUR FRIENDS!! Keep the clean side...

RE: Four-Star 40 ARF Complete!!!

Just watch the length of the grass. Fairly short should be no problem ( I fly this same plane with pants off of a grass field ). They do look kinda sharp, and the 4*, although a great airplane and an...

RE: Best Trainer

The Avistar with a 40 is adequate, that`s what I had to start, but I would recommend at some point switching it out for a 46. Just throttle it back some for most of your training time, but you`ll...

RE: Koyosho PT17 addendum

Doesn`t have anything to do with a PT-17, but I`ll echo the good luck and God bless, Andy. I can relate.

RE: Good first warbird

You might want to consider a GP PT-19 as well. Not a fighter, obviously, but a good easy flying intro warbird. I was fortunate enough to come into a now discontinued Kyosho PT-19 as my first low wing...

RE: Basic training on a Warbird

Ditto on a PT-19. If there`s one model classified as a warbird that could be a basic trainer, it`d be the Cornell in my opinion.

RE: Newb Here and lovin it !

Look at the larger 4*s. I`d wager that the 4* series ( 40, 60, 120 ) has provided an intro to low wing taildraggers to more new pilots than any other single plane or series. There`s a good reason if...

RE: Beginner ----> Intermediate

Thanks Glow, I`ve always kind of felt the same way. While it`s not my interest or style, I DO admire the skill of the really accomplished aerobatic pilots ( one was my instructor ). I do consider...

RE: Beginner ----> Intermediate

Interesting question. I`m sure there are as many opinions as there are RC pilots. Can someone ( such as myself ) ascend to the intermediate level if he/she is happy flying BASIC aerobatics with a...

RE: sig 4* 60

If the plane and engine are in good shape, go for it. The 4* series are deservedly all time RC classic planes. I`d bet they`ve trained more pilots than anything else when it comes to first low wing...

RE: RC is a very humbling hobby/sport!!!

Yep! I`ve learned the hard way that you have to pay attention ALL THE TIME, even with a plane that you`re " comfortable with ". It`s amazing how quickly they can " get in front of you " and into...

RE: KMP Hurricanes are in!!

Thanks Fred. Sounds encouraging so far. I`m sure your mods are great, but do you think the " stock " set up would at least be adequately functional, if not quite as scale as what you`ve done?

RE: Kondor Models GEEBEE and Robart Struts

Don`t exactly know what struts would be for a Gee Bee, but I dearly love the ones I put on my Kyosho PT-19. Robart has great customer service as well, at least in my experience. Just give them a call...

RE: I LOVE MY SIG 4 STAR!!!

I just started flying the `60`s little brother ( `40 ) and I`m pretty sure I`m REALLY going to enjoy it. More capable than my other two ( Avistar and PT-19 ),yet really slows down and handles nicely....

Wing Loading and Warbirds

Guys, what`s the best way ( or I guess plane, perhaps ) for transitioning into the less forgiving, higher loaded models? I`ve got more flying to do first, but I`ve soloed on an Avistar, can handle my...

RE: Gift idea for solo student.

If your friend has a " Dream Plane " that he might want to fly ( model ) in the future, if it`s a scale model of an actual plane, and IF YOU`VE GOT THE BUCKS, go to www. warplaneswarehouse.com....

RE: Robo struts for Ryan STA ARF

Just put a set on a PT-19. They dress a model up nicely. I had to get some help since I don`t have all the tools necessary, primarily drills to drill holes in the struts Then you have to tap out the...

RE: HOW GOOD ARE KYOSHO PLANES?

I`ve only had one and still have it, the now-discontinued PT-19. It`s a quality model, IMHO. I`ve not heard anything bad much at all re: Kyosho with the qualifier that if you`re going to buy one "...

Way to go!! I doubt you`ll ever forget it! Happy landings ( keep the greasy side down and the clean side up ) and remember, especially as a beginner, that ALTITUDE AND AIR SPEED ARE YOUR FRIENDS!
