I am actually starting this project. I am going to be using 2 11.1v li-po packs in parallel and place them where the fuel tank would be, Twisted Liquid Rudder and turn fin, Stock hardware (flex shaft, rudder mount, etc...), Aquacraft brushless motor (the one being used in the Supervee 27) and a Barracuda 125 ESC. I am hoping for 40, but we will see when it is all said and done.
Cheers,
Eric

I have completed a conversion to electric.
I used the 1/12 Miss Bud flex shaft hull
Here's a [link=http://www.rcflix.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=2727&cat=583]Video[/link] of her run with crappy 1800mAh batts.

From most people's experiences doing this conversion, most people say don't waste your time. It's a ton of work to get that boat light enough to really make it move. You've got to really strip it down and empty it out. IMO it'd be A LOT easier and be a much better suited FE boat if you were to start with a bare FE hydro hull to begin with.

There was absolutely NOTHING hard about this conversion. I used the motor mount from a 1/8 miss bud, cut it down, mounted the SV27 motor & mount to it. Bolted it right in. The shaft & rudder are stock. The servo & receiver are where they were intended. The SV27 ESC is with the rest of the elect. and the batts went up front where the gas tank was. The hardest part was making 2 cuts in the aluminum mount from the 1/8 bud, which took me 15 minutes to size, cut, and install.
The SV27 motor is an 1800kv I replaced it with an ammo 2300kv motor, plus I have replaced the 1800mAh batts with EP4200's
I'll video that run this weekend!

Dirtysouth31 converted his Miss Vegas. It's heavier than my Bud. He runs the ammo motor and 3800mAh. He runs at 28Mph according to his GPS.
I can't wait to see what my lighter Bud will do with the same ammo motor and EP4200's

All I'm saying is that your buddy is running a brushless hydroplane and is doing 28mph.... I'm running a gutted Hammer EP hull with a 700 motor and hitting 32.4 (garmin e-trex). Those hulls are just heavy and not built for FE use. To lighten it up you might want to look into taking the lead weight out of the right sponson, there's about a half a pound in there. Get rid of the facotry radio box and build a new horizontal wing from lighter material.
Not saying you can't have lots of fun with them!
Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not dogging you at all! You're boat looked great and looked like it was a ton of fun to run. I've wanted a hydro myself for a while but I'm more of a sport runner. Those Miss Buds and Llumarsare absolutely beautifull boats. They really draw attention.

I'm sorry Dookie. I wasn't offended at all, I apologize if you thought I was.
I guess it was a bad use of capitalization on my part.
Just trying to emphasize how easy the convert was to do. You are right, it does draw attention. I love the fact that it runs quiet & I can run her in just about any lake without having to worry about the gas/nitro restrictions. If after the motor & batt upgrades, all I get is between 29-31 mph, I'm happy with that! Just as long as I beat that darn Vegas!
FYI The batteries were cheap temps anyway. I had to know if the weight in the nose would pose a problem before spending the $$ on good batts.
...almost forgot to mention, I don't have the radio box in there.

I watched the video and I thought it worked out pretty good. The boat ran good and at a decent speed. Put some nice batteries in there even some 7 cell packs would be nice and watch her gain 3 to 6mph. That would be SWEET

I got'cha Dirty!

37.2 (garmin e-trex) isn't bad huh Dookie?

Would have posted the video, but the passes were running away from the camera, then toward the camera. It didn't look much different than the first video. I'll have Dirty video it again from the side to have the pass go right to left next time. [:@]

Not bad at all. Take the weight out of that hull and it'll go even faster! 37 is moving along quite nicely.

I'd rather crash this one than my Renegade rigger though
Miss Bud did crash today

Ya. That's the extent of the damage. a few minor scratches on the bottom of the left sponson.
After watching that video (again) and remembering the crash with the renegade rigger, I realize something...
I can't drive!

Hey Diegoboy what are the specs of the motor you are running. I am beginning to think that I may scrap the whole Miss Bud or Miss Vegas FE conversion now. I was planning on running 4s Lipo and a 7XL or 8XL motor but if I can't run it at 50mph I will just be bored with it.

50mph? I don't think I could control it or any other boat at that speed. The motor specs are [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLWZ6&P=7]Here[/link].
Sorry to discourage you, I hoped to produce the opposite effect. People say that it's too hard, too slow, too whatever. It's not hard, slow or anything else. But 50mph? 3 blade prop, 14 cells (or lipo), and a motor with more than 2300kV... Maybe. Unfortunately, I'm nervous running it at 37.2, so I won't be trying to hit that mark.
