SuperVee Glitching Problems
#26
I think the theory behind using the antistatic bag was for people racing on carpet and such. Then that would make sense. However, EMI will still get through those bags. And like Wheelnut surmised, the antenna is still exposed to the EMI effects.
I like EMI. EMI is cool.

I have the same radio in my profisherman bass boat and have terrible glitching and range problems with it. I tried things like putting the receiver in aluminum foil and wrapping aluminum foil around the outboard cowl in hopes to reduce the electrical noise from the motor. None of this made any difference. I know of someone who took the radio system out of the bass boat and tried it in another model and it wasn't as bad. I think it's particulary bad in the bass boat probably because the motor is so close to the antenna wire. The only solution to the radio problem in the bass boat is to replace it which I'm doing this winter.
I believe the problem with this radio is very limited range. The signal from the transmitter is not very strong and if the model is more than about 25 feet away the electrical interference in the model picked up by the rx becomes very significant compared with transmitter's signal causing the model to glitch. Having new high quality batteries in the transmitter improves things but limited range and glitching are still a major problem.

Well after about 3 hours down at the lake I found the problem with my
SuperVee.
It would run fine with STICK (end to end) batteries but as soon as I ran
FLAT (side by side) pack batteries it would start glitching.
Sounds CRAZY I know. Tried it with SIX different battery sets and ALWAYS
glitched with FLAT packs only !
Finally used a friends FM receiver and Transmitter and boat ran fine with
ANY type battery pack. I also tried the STICK type in a friends Supervee and his
ran fine. So by what I can tell I believe my transmitter & receiver is the
problem (ran fine with FM) maybe it just need to be fine tuned or something
but there is something definitely wrong with it. I will ship it out
tomorrow for warranty repair but I also ordered a Futaba FM setup for the SV tired of messing with this problem.
Bet you never heard this problem before !!

Love my new sv,Hate the radio. Question #1 If i get an fm radio and receiver that does not have bec, where do i install the receiver batteries? i don't think they will fit in the tiny radio box. If you mount the receiver batts. outside the box, does it affect the way the boat handles? anyone have pictures?? SV shelved for now.

The bec is in the SuperVee's esc so you don't need one in the receiver or a rx battery. Just replace the SV rx with the new fm rx and you are good to go. My sugestion is the hitec DCX. It's the only 3 channel dual conversion rx I know of. With the DCX you will have no more glitches and it's inexpensive. Tower has it or your LHS will probably be able to get it.
