I'll bump this thread rather than start a new one... I have a proboat mini-v (i love it...) and its currently the only boat amongst a sea (or should i say land?) of cars and trucks. I was thinking about getting one of these things.. What is the stock performance going to be like? the proboat goes 10mph (10.3 i guess) stock, but it is a pretty small boat. What im getting at is that although this will probobly be faster, since its bigger, will it FEEL as fast? i guess it doesnt matter... it will probobly get a better motor (i happen to have a trinity 14t lying around) anyway. and i finally have some GOOD batterys (Goodbye nicad and worn out nimh. hello good nimh cells). some of these questions have probobly been answered, so i guess ill just read the whole thread.

hey showstopper hows that thing run with the shockwave setup? Did you have to change the stock shaft to make it work?

drive shaft has been changed to 1.25 Flex-cable/ teflon tube - so stuffing tube was replaced to fit used Fuller's Super 12 Cell Mono Hardware - running 36 & 38 batt pack plus a set of 4200 14cells - She is a scream!!!
a friend has a SV27 - We've gone head to head a few times and SW26 stands tall - The deciding factors we could agree on was - On chop SV27 & flat water SW26 rides better doesn't hop around at all like SV27 - Full trottle in turns about even, though the SW26 turns evenly both right & left with of without turn fins - But on flat water SW26 hands down - Yes I would like have a SV27 but a $900 Australian Dollars - I've saved myself about $500 with the mod's on my SW26 - Oops I'm mean my girlfriend SW26 hahaha - Consider the upgrade and Enjoy

Is this boat surface drive or not? if it is not surface drive then i am probobly not bothering with it.... ill get something else (like a villain or blast? they surface drives? I would assume that at least the villain is but idk). If it is then i am probobly getting one.

If you want them to look pretty and you don't mind spending money then get these. You don't really need trim tabs with the SW26 because you can adjust the outdrive.

If you don't want to spend the extra bucks on the pretty blue then get these, they will work just as good.

If you want a razor sharp front cutting edge for the least resistance then get these.

http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...d=ose-monofins

Or you could also sharpen the others.

I have now run the Shockwave on the Chameleon 2 Pro 19 turn motor with a smaller prop. I had also added brush cooling to the motor and it seemed to run cooler and the ESC was not super hot. However, even though there are suppression capacitors on the motor, I get a lot of glitching at top throttle -- both throttle and rudder, so the motor never completely comes up to speed because it cuts out, speeds up, cuts out, etc. That may also be part off the esc heating as well. I am being told the glitching is because the Pro-Boat radio is AM. Has anyone else had a problem with glitching at high speed? The suppression capacitors on the motor are the ones that came with the stock motor. Any recommendations for using different ones? Should I try a surface frequency FM radio to see if there is a difference? I don't want to spend more $$$ on upgrades if the boat isn't going to run well enough to enjoy it.

I wish i could help you PeeJay. I don't have any supression capacitors on my chameleon 19t and I get very little interference. i don't think I hae the pro though. What brush cooling did you use? Any pics?

Yes peace mit 17-18 with just a battery upgrade on an sw26 is good I think. Did you go into thermal shutdown. Most of us here have heat probs with our boats both with and without mods.

15 foot range is not uncommon for this boat when there is ANYTHING else out there to conflict with the signal. When I run it out in the middle of nowhere I can go alot farther than that. Once though I ran it in a lake surrounded by alot of house and a major road on the other side and I got 6 ft away and I just totally lost the signal. Something else overpowered the weak transmitter and it started going full reverse and in circles. The radio was totally unresponsive and I had to wade out to get it. So in the end, yes the Radio and transmitter are WEAK!

PEEJAY any updates on your SW26? Did you resolve the heat issues? Are you still running the same motor as me the Chameleon 19t?

Here is a video of the current set-up - SW26 - 7cell IB36600 - Trinity Chameleon 19t motor, stock esc and Octura x427 metal prop. probably 18-19 maybe 20 mph. The lake is big so it looks slower thna it is i guess.

Also here is a video of my stock Villain EX on twin 7 cell 4200 nimh batts. Water cooled but otherwise stock.

I need a replacement coupler for the motor to the shaft or a universal. Does anyone know the shaft diameter for 550 sized motors and the prop shaft of the boat, so I can order a replacement?

Thanks.

Pete

i run my boat in a catfish lake close to I 95 and never had a problem with the radio range,I've also ran it at Lake Diston where there are homes and campsites also with no problems.Something isnt right if your only getting 15 foot range.

I run my shockwave 26 at least 600 feet. The only time I have any trouble with range is when a toy boat floods the radio signal I am using or if there are other strong AM transmitters around such as some of those walkie talkies they sell. I am planning to move over to FM some time this summer.

I actually think the 2.4ghz frequency is becoming too saturated where I tend to run my boats. I mostly run my boats at RV resorts and campgrounds where they have wifi on the 2.4 ghz as well as lots of Rv's that have 2.4ghz wifi equipment on board.

I dont know if it would pose a problem for 2.4 technology (i ont have mine yet [&o])for rc use,That would be a good question for the radio forum if the wi-fi would cause glitching.I'm sure someone will be able to answer there

Yesterday I installed a T-Rex style motor and speed control, used my 5000mah 3cell lipo (little big on the amps!).. used a little smaller prop to make sure no heat isues, and with my geko101 gps hit 25mph.. after 2min motor was warm but esc was hot and shut off for a couple seconds, then I brought it back to shore.. nothing burnt!! Took it out again, worked great, total run time about 6-7min, put back 1050mah into battery.. Will try the stock prop but need a smaller 3cell lipo.. Boats Rock!!
