Default first scratch build

I apologize for the crappy pics, but herethey are.. A little explaination: Length-23.5", Beam-7.5". Frame is 1/8" birch plywood, skinned in 1/32" birch plywood. Everything is "tacked" together with CA, and I am about to add a doubler to the inner transom and veneer the outer transom(with epoxy resin), add a couple of strakes, fill the gaps inside with epoxy resin and filler (talcum), then water proof the rest of the inside with thinned epoxy. Im on the fence about how to finish the hull on this thing, will thinned resin be enough to strengthen the thin skin on this, or will it require fiberglass? I have quite a bit of experience with fiberglassing around tight bends and corners, and wetting out the glass (thinned epoxy) and laying it without air gaps, but I HATE working with it. Anyway, enough rambling heres the pics!

I think the V might be too shallow for rougher water, the V gets shallower towards the rear.. What do you guys think about using a 1/16" wire surface drive and a 540 size brushless in-runner and lipo? Any hardware suggestions? Im really only wanting it to go 25-35 mph on smooth water.

That is just about the same size as my new ETTI mono (L. 22 1/2") The V on your hull is a little shallow, but not bad though...good job so far!

here's a couple pics of my boat...

nice boat!! what kind of hardware/ type of drive are you running? what size motor and ESC? sorry for all of the newb heat lamp grilling, the only other boats i have built were a plastic jet powered cracker (too much aereation/fail), and a dumas deep vee 18 (not good for a first time builder), and i majorly screwed that one up.. thanks!

The boat has a flood chamber (round hole in transom) and still needs to be opened up more in transom (square hole). I am using a Speedmaster stinger for 3/16" shaft, .130 flex cable with a 3/16" stubshaft stepped down to 1/8" , a Speedmaster mini rudder 4" long with a 2" rudder bracket, a Feigao 380 8L brushless motor (and cooling jacket), an ETTI Navy 70 amp ESC, and a pair of 2S 3300 25C Enerland lipos that will be run in parallel

To clarify the terms.
Flex is the "normal" twisted wire thing that many folk use.

Wire drive is the solid piano/music wire. 0.062 or 1/16" is a common size. Few use smaller and big power needs bigger.

I run 062 wires in 6 hulls.

The best I have is a 7XL on 4S lipo to a 642 prop giving 55mph +
That is over 1600W of power.

There are far higher power applications that I have read about but not yet tried.........on the water at least.

Jeff Wholt carries biggerwire drives as well (.078, and .093) on his site (www.rcraceboat.com), thanks for the reply Simon!
