Default ESC help!

Hi, I would like help on deciding what ESC to get. I'm not sure what amp ESC my boat requires so here are the specs:

2726KV motor
Dual 4S 14.8v 4500mAh 20C LiPos

I also have another boat with a 1620KV motor and would ideally like a ESC which can work with both motors if thats possible?

I believe my current ESC is 70a for the 2726KV motor and I had to attach a 5A UBEC to it myself.

Thanks.

Is this okay? It says it has a built in BEC so I'm guessing I wouldn't need to attach a UBEC to it?

we've talked about this kv thing before ,Oz is right too high a kv on 4S.
Better with a 1800-2000kv motor on 4S.

Man I don't know what the price on that ESC is but that looks like a re-branded turnigy to me. the spec sheet looks identical. HK had htem for less than 60 bones.

I tried my 4S on my 1620KV motor and it was dead slow compared to the other motor.

In this thread I don't see the physical size of the motor. A 28mm x 35mm may only draw 30A where a 36mm x 65mm may draw 80A and a 39mm x 100mm may draw 180A. All 2700kv on 4s

I’d imagine the OP would be fine with a 120A ESC as it’s pretty standard but lets not assume. Especially since a very hot setup will be used. – 4s on a 2700kv motor.

What hull is this setup for? What length is the hull? What prop is being used?

The length of my motor is around 72mm, I am running 4S Lipos parallel. My hull length is 32" deep vee mono. The prop being used is the one supplied with the boat in ARTR condition which is a brass unbalanced and unsharepend prop which has a diameter of roughly 42mm, I have tried sharpening it myself.

I would say that motor is probably very capable of pushing 100+ amps. The 42mm prop will place a great amount of load on the ESC and batteries. Your hull being on the larger side of the 4s region needs a decent prop. The weight and load itself will increase current draw. You may get away with using a 120A ESC but it's tough to tell.

I personally would run a different motor with a larger prop.

that's a lot of rpm for a 32" mono using a 42mm prop..
Is that smoke I see? [:-]
