I am not going to argue with them since I cannot win. They do have a vali point about Nitro being a known carcinogen, you cant just put things like that into a water supply on purpose. It's no biggie to me,the electric is the same price but i have to buy some batteries.I just look at it as it will be easier to start and i wont have to worry about stalling and sending my wife out to swim to get it (i don't know how or like to swim or get inthe water lol).

It's really sad you feel that way, dude, what you gonna do when they say your kids can't put their feet in the water because they had shoes and socks on beforehand......[:-],grow a pair of rudders and steer yourself towards the TRUTH of the matter...don't beach yourself by letting whoever suppress your right to information.....[:-]

I look at it this way, it's the US EPA and the US Army. A guy complaining about an R/C boat is going to be blown off by anyone in these 2 organizations, it's not what you want to hear, but it's a fact. I was asked by a watercraft officer to verify legality of use on the lake with the people that run the lake-the US Army Engineers Office. Upon mailing them they told me that I COULD be cited since it was a Class 1 carcinogen and it was going straight into the water. They didn't promise a problem, but the inland lake we use our R/C and full size boats on is only 9 miles long, I don't want the water cops remembering me and giving me trouble every time they see me.

It's just as easy to sell the boat and get an electric, it's the same boat and is just as fast or faster, and i wont have to worry about carrying starting equipment and fuel with me onto my full size boat when i want to use it. I should have gotten electric in the first place but I wanted the boat so bad i got the nitro version. I love nitro, don't get me wrong, but it's just easier for all involved to get an electric.

I hear ya rob, but I think if you pushed your investigation a step up,as to why[>:] OTHER boaters and SKIERS, that are using the SAME class 1 carcinogen,(or worse)ARE allowed to run.... unfettered,....[:'(],the next thing ya know,we ALL will need CF#'s and registration to run our boats...foooey,bureucratic @#$%^%#$^&&%^%.........maybe you ought to try the gas boats scene........

Yeah I can imagine with the liberalization of our country pretty soon we will all have to wear maks because we are polluting the air with our breathing. Who really knows though, I probably just got someone gung ho who is probably obeying the rules by telling me i cant use it there. Yet in reality the chances of me getting popped by a water officer are slim. I am just using this as an excuse to get an electric model mostly just due to the ease of use of electric, if this motor had an electric starter i would probably run it and not care about getting in trouble.

Plus,I don't really use this from shore in a small pond,I am using it on an inland lake that is 9 miles long, there are coves we use,but most of them dont have any beach per se to get on,so i am launching this from inside my full size deck boat. With gas,I am sitting on the end of my boat trying to start this one, then trying to get the radio while its running to make sure i give it gas when it hits the water, then i have to try and lay on my side to drop it in the water, all with a running prop and trying not to cut my leg or arm off. Electric is just so much more feasible for me,had I known this thing basically had to be thrown in the water the way it does,I would have bought electric off the bat simply because i don't use it from shore, it's just much safer for me and the boat to have electric.

O.S. 8 seem to work ok with 30%, but when i ran 40%, i was burning them up, could have been my tune, so i am not sure. i now run O.S. A5, a medium, with 30% and 40% just fine........

Harald, check around at the clubs in your district as many of them have RTR classes where the boat would be more competitive. Try running with the Miss Vegas' if they'll let you. Your boat has a couple of MPH more than them plus can run in rougher water!

No. A hydroplane is faster than a deep vee - at least it should be with the same engine.

A deep vee hull rides on the water, a hydroplane rides above the water on its sponsosns.

Pretty basic things: extra glow plugs and the Grim 40X53X3 prop is a good upgrade over the black nylon

mine broke 30 seconds in the water, i would suggest a spare. my spare has not broken, but i also upgraded to a hughey cable, great quality.

http://www.finedesignrc.com/hardware.asp

almost at the bottom of the page, under hughey hardware, the .150 cable, "3/16's stub is the ticket for the nitro SV27.

you have to trim it to length, i used a dremel cutoff wheel, then slightly bevel the edges of the cut end for easier insertion into the coupler.........

of course, you could always go with the standard replacement from aquacraft, plug and play deal there......

BE CAREFUL, "TWISTED LIQUID RACING" MAY NOT TELL YOU THE TRUTH.

HELLO TO EVERYONE, MY NAME IS ALEJANDRO GONZALEZ AND I AM A BIG FAN AND
SUPPORTER OF RC, LIVING IN MEXICO CITY.

ON MAY 15TH, 2007, I ASKED A REPRESENTATIVE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE OF
TWISTED LIQUID RACING IF THEY COULD SEND ME SOME ACCESSORIES FOR MY
"MISS VEGAS" TO NEW YORK BECAUSE DUE TO WORK I WAS GOING TO TRAVEL FOR
5 DAYS TO THE BIG APPLE. AFTER THAT, I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM JAMES
BARRINGER (THE OWNER OF THE STORE) WHERE HE WROTE THAT WITHOUT ANY
PROBLEMS THEY COULD SEND EVERYTHING TO THE HOTEL WHERE I WAS GONNA
STAY. IN THAT SAME EMAIL HE PROPOSED ME THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING AN
AUTHORIZED RETAILER OF TWISTED LIQUID RACING BECAUSE I WAS HIS FIRST
CLIENT IN MEXICO. AFTER THINKING ABOUT IT AND AFTER A FEW CHATS WITH
JAMES ABOUT PRICE LISTS, ACCESSORY LISTS AND SHIPPING OPTIONS, I SAID
YES TO WHAT I THOUGHT WAS AN EXCELLENT IDEA. TO CREATE A PLACE WHERE
YOU COULD EASYLY GET RC STUFF IN MEXICO AND JAMES ALSO SEEMED
TRUSTWORTHY THOSE DAYS. AFTER WE SETTLED AN AGREEMENT HE TOLD ME THAT
IT WAS NOT NECESSARY TO SEND THE THINGS TO NEW YORK. "EVERYTHING IS
GOING TO ARRIVE TO MEXICO WITH NO PROBLEMS", HE SAID.

ON JUNE 8TH, 2007, I MADE MY FIRST ORDER FOR WHICH I PAID $835.00 USD.
IT INCLUDED A THUNDERCAT 31 TOTALLY TRANSFORMED BY TWISTED LIQUID
RACING AND VARIOUS ACCESSORIES FOR A MISS VEGAS AND FOR A TRAXXAS.

THE SHIPMENT WAS SUPPOSED TO ARRIVE IN APPROXIMATELY 20 DAYS. 4 WEEKS
LATER JAMES TOLD ME THAT THE PACKAGE HAD BEEN REJECTED AT CUSTOM
SERVICES GETTING INTO MEXICO AND HE ASKED ME TO DON'T GET DESPERATE,
THAT HE WOULD DIVIDE THE ORDER IN VARIOUS PACKAGES TO AVOID PROBLEMS
WITH CUSTOM SERVICES IN MEXICO. I REQUESTED HIM TO SPECIFICALLY USE UPS
BECAUSE I HAVE RECEIVED MANY THINGS FROM TOWER HOBBIES THROUGH THEM AND
I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. HE DID NOT LISTEN AND AFTER THE THIRD
TIME HE SENT THE THINGS THROUGH REGULAR U.S. MAIL SERVICE HE SUPPOSEDLY
USED FEDEX BUT HE NEVER SENT ME A TRACKING NUMBER SO I DON'T KNOW IF
THIS EVEN HAPPENED.

I LOST PAYPAL'S REFUND BECAUSE I SPENT TOO MUCH TIME TRUSTING THESE
GUYS AND BELIEVING THAT THE THINGS WILL FINALLY ARRIVE. AFTER SENDING A
LOT OF EMAILS TO JAMES AND TO CUSTOMER SERVICES, THINGS STARTED TO GET
DARKER AND THEY STOPPED ANSWERING ME VIA EMAIL, CHAT AND PHONE WITHOUT
SOLVING MY PROBLEM.

UNTIL TODAY, ON DECEMBER 2007, I HAVE ONLY RECEIVED ACCESSORIES WICH
COSTED $200.00 USD. AND I'M STILL WAITING (MAYBE IN VAIN) A REFUND FOR
$635.00 USD.

THEY ASKED ME TO SEND AN ADDRESS IN THE U.S. FOR THEM TO BE EASIER TO
SEND THE REFUND. I GAVE THEM THE ADDRESS OF A RELATIVE WHO LIVES IN
TEXAS AND AGAIN AFTER SOME TIME THEY TOLD ME THAT THE REFUND HADN'T
ARRIVED BECAUSE THE ADDRESS A SENT DIDN'T EXIST,OF COURSE THAT IS NOT TRUE... I GIVE THEM THE PHONE NUMBER TOO AND NOTHING!!. I REQUESTED THEM TO
SEND THE REFUND THROUGH PAYPAL AND IT WAS THE SAME. I DON'T KNOW WHAT
ELSE TO DO TO SOLVE THIS SITUATION IN AN EASY WAY, PLEASE HELP ME TO
CONTACT THE RESPECTIVE AUTHORITIES TO FIND A LEGAL SOLUTION. I KNOW
THAT IT'S GONNA BE COMPLICATED TO MANAGE IT FROM MEXICO, HOWEVER I'VE
GOT COPIES OF THE INVOICES, EMAILS AND CHAT SESSIONS THAT BACKUP
EVERYTHING I'M TELLING YOU.

AS A PERSONAL ADVISE I WANT TO RECOMMEND YOU TO BE VERY CAREFUL IN
PICKING WHERE YOU WILL BUY RC STUFF, SPECIALLY IF YOU'RE GONNA DO IT
OUTSIDE OF THE U.S. SHOPS LIKE TOWER HOBBIES GUARANTEES YOU THEIR
DELIVERIES AND ARE REALLY COMPROMISED IN SUPPORTING THEIR CLIENTS. I
CAN'T GENERALIZE AND SAY THAT EVERY CASE IS THE SAME WITH TWISTED
LIQUID RACING, HOWEVER, ALL YOU HAVE READ IS REAL AND IS HAPPENING TO
ME, SO IF I'M POSTING THIS IS BECAUSE I WANT TO PREVENT YOU OF MAKING
THE SAME MISTAKE I DID, DOING BUSINESSES WITH PEOPLE THAT MAY NOT TELL
YOU THE TRUTH AND I ALSO WANT TO GET MY MONEY BACK; I'M NOT PLANNING TO
GIVE ANYTHING TO THESE PEOPLE.
I HOPE TLR FINISH THIS PROBLEM AS MOST BE

REMEMBER, BE CAREFUL AND THANKS VERY MUCH AS ALWAYS.

GREETINGS FROM MEXICO.

ALEJANDRO GONZALEZ

mine was finally tuned just right and running great, but the radio box broke all to hell. so, i have a vegas box halfway finished/modded to replace it, some pics will come as i finish up the conversion.

i have been too busy having a blast with my hydros since this one broke, so i have not had it out in a long time. soon though!!
