Default 450SE V2 Spins.

I have posted here before but still haven't gotten a fix yet, but i have some more new information. My heli hovers beautifully but when i punch the power it spins uncontrollably. If i gradually put power to it though it doesn't spin nearly as bad. But something i noticed is that my blades spin in clockwise direction, but when i give full throttle the spin is counter-clockwise. Everyone i've had look at my heli says that(mechanically) it looks to be set up well. Does this mean that my gyro is too sensitive? I have a 450 SE V2 with a futaba 401 gyro and digital tail servo, and a spektrum dx7 radio. Also i think it has a 12t motor gear on it. I would appreciate any input you can give me about my problem and if any more information is needed i will do everything i can to answer your questions.

Sounds like your tail belt drive gear is starting to slip on the shaft. Try holding the tail blades and hand spinning the rotor blades. Watch the gear for the tail belt. Let us know, Andy

Check to make sure that your tail rotor is rotating counter clockwise when viewed from the right side of the helicopter

Contrary to what some believe, it will work fine spinning in either direction...as long as the tail blades are mounted so the leading edge is going correctly.

I agree with Flying Foot Doc...check what he suggested.

But if the tail was slipping wouldn't that make the uncontrolled spins go in the same direction that the blades are spinning? I thought that since the spins were in complete opposite directions that would be a sure assurance that my tail was holding solid, if not too much. I know i am a complete noob at this so please correct me if i'm wrong.

The rotation direction doesn't change when you add or remove power.

You don't have any kind of REVO mixing enabled do you?

Is the gyro in heading hold? The light should flash for 3 seconds then come on solid.

Disconnect the motor, initialize the gyro, and switch flight modes and move the throttle stick up and down and make sure the light stays solid the whole time

I agree with that too, even some full scale choppers don't rotate into the rotor down wash. What I meant was what you said in the second half of the post, with the leading edge traveling in the right direction. Seen that once. Made the tail act funny. Not even sure how it got airborne.
Hey Ego, which servo are you using?
The helicopter is going to spin the opposite direction of the rotor blades due to the torque

when i hold the tail the main rotor will turn maybe an eighth of a turn, but no more after that. Is this normal or sign of i need to change something?

it almost sounds like your servo throw might not be enough. or possibly your gyro sensitivity might be a tad too low. these are just guesses for me right now since my t-rex doesnt has the ability to punch like that. also, if you are running with the stock metal pulley, it shouldn't slip at all. so the eighth of a turn is just pulling tension on the belt.

good luck,
wraith

Newton: For every action there is an equal and OPPOSITE reaction.

In other words, the heli wants to spin in the OPPOSITE direction that the blades are spinning. This is what the tail is trying to counter.

My guesses: You need either 1. more gyro gain or 2. more head speed.

Slipping or not enough servo throw are possibilities also. Check the atv adjustment on the 401. Make sure the servo travels as far as it can without binding in both directions.
