Hi, I posted a question in the beginners threads but have had no responce, so I will ask again here.
First a little info. My Trex 450 sa is my first real helicopter. I do have a Blade cx2 and the G3.5 sim, but setting up a heli is new to me. I have been doing alot of research on gyros , but not sure which one will give me the greatest chance of setting up and flying sucessfully. Other than on-line forums I won't have any guidance during set up.
My requirements for a gyro/servo set up is that it is stable in a hover and will handle slow forward/backward flight. I am learning and not %100 certain helis are for me, so I really don't want to shell out for a high end gyro.
I would sacrafice 3d performance for an easy to set up/stable gyro. Here are a couple examples of what I have been looking at.

Keep in mind ease of set up is very important.
Thanks for any help.

welcome to the heli club my friend. you're gonna get hooked!

for ease of setup and a great gyro all around...get the futaba gy401. setting up the hitec hg5000 or the Jr 770 will be much more difficult than the futaba. I love the align gp750 which is also extremely easy to setup. Spartan ds760 is currently the hottest gyro on the market.
or if you want a cheapie that serves its purpose well than get this : http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet...o-G401B/Detail its a clone of the futaba gy401 that works very well.
good luck!

Hey Bro
Welcome to the club everyone is going to have an opinoin, so here's mine.
I started last year with a 450 SA also. I have the HiTech 5000 gyro on it. I found it easy to set up. Alot easier then the JR Gyro's, So I can help you out.
Any question e-mail me @ [email protected] also try HeliFreak.com Finnless has a great set up video for the HeTech 5000G.
I love mine in the year I've progressed from very basic hovering to FF flight loops rolls flips and fast backward flight, even a couple of upright funnels. the tail holds great! rock solid. I say give it a try
Good luck

Thanks for the responce guys. The Futaba Gy401s is definately a popular gyro and will likely suite my needs, but I am going to look a little closer into the G401b. The price is right, and if it is tried and true then it looks like the gyro for me.

After all we are talking <$20 so I ordered one as I could not resist doing a little testing of my own.

I'll be putting this on my repaired BeltCP if she fly's, and at that stage I'll post a review.
