SETTING UP A TWINSTAR WITH A FUTABA 9C AND HAVING TROUBLE. I HAVE CHANNEL 3 SET AS THE MASTER AND CHANNEL 6 AS THE SLAVE . I GET CONTROL OK WITH THE STICK AND THE THROTTLE TRIM ADJUSTS BOTH ENGINES. BUT I CAN'T KILL BOTH ENGINES WITH THROTTLE CUT, I CAN ONLY KILL THE MASTER.

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Can't be of much help on the 9C but there should be a way to assign the switch positions to both channels.
Maybe the place to check is in the 9C faq section.

I seem to remember reading that throttle kill will not work with the slave. Will look later. It is neat to sequence the shutdown with another switch.

The website is full of info .......... http://www.futaba-rc.com/faq/faq-9c.html ...You my try one of the 3 position switches Like "G"as your throttle R-L kill and "H" as your idle down, I dont know this for a fact but it may work. And if that fails call the number on the website .....the 12 year old kid/radio guru should be able to help you set it up. I believe that you will need to use a switch to throw channel 6 to an offset that will shut the engine down. Maybe trim shutdown would work. Hope the information helps.

Try going into aux-ch. Then change ch6 to the switch that you have your throttle cut-off on.

I was caught up in with this same issue about a year ago when setting up my 9ZAP for my Facet 2400T. The only solution I could come to was to assign an offset mix to the slave channel that was equal in magnitude to the throttle kill signal and activated by the same switch position as throttle kill. Unfortunately you don't have the same safety lock-out feature as what the throttle kill feature offers on the master engine (ie TK locked out above a given throttle point), but that's what I came up with. I used the trim to kill both engines on the 9c. I also use a 3 posision switch to bring an engine to idle for single engine takeoffs. ( the rudder is busy) but in my big apple it's not a problem. you should see the jaws drop.. The Futaba FAQ's has all the info on the setup!!

The 9c has the features for mixing twin engines.

I CAN MIX THE ENGINES FINE I JUST CAN'T GET THROTTLE CUT TO KILL THE SECOND ENGINE.

I'm doing the exact same thing. Not too worried about the enging kill thing, my Remington 12 gauge will take care of that. I want to be able to independently adjust the slave trim with a VR knob so I can sync the two engines to a gnats breath. Ideas? I'm using a 9CAP.

I tryed it and it did sync the engines I just couldn't get the kill switch for both engines to work so am trying other mixes for now.

OK!! I had the same issue. we just use the throttle trim to kill both engines OR Impact will do the same also!!

Turn on needle vavle adjust setting in computer, plug 2nd throttle into channel 8.......WALLAAAAAA both idle down and throttle cut now work off throttle stick and you can assign a vr knob to independantly adjust 2nd servo. Super cool for twins

I took a KISS approach on my Herk. All 4 engines were set up using a protractor to get the throttle arm degreed in and matchine. Then Identical servos and linkage. I used a 4 to 1 linkage for just the throttle on the tx. to control all servos. Then Mixture is set independantly for each engine for most reliable setting. If the top is off more than 300 rpm you can adjust the ball link on the thorttle arm. All 4 cut off when the throttle is pulled to idle and (I have a kill button on my Micropro transmitter) I press the kill button. This has worked great and the 2 to 300 rpm difference doesn't even show up while flying. Good luck and happy flying.. Jim

Depending on your transmitter, use ch. 3+7 (7-channel receiver) or 7+8 (8-channel receiver) for left and right throttle. See this link to set up your mixes (use PMIX):

I did this a couple of weeks ago of my Tri-Stick. I have the center engine on channel 3 and the two outboard on 6 and 7. You have to mix the kill switch to channel 6 and 7 and it will work perfectly. I do not remember the specifics, but if you like email me and I will look at the radio when I am at home.

Recently set up the 9C for my twin - came up with the same conclusion - then spotted this thread.
Works great, and lots of control for endpoints, in flight adjustments with Vr knob, syncing throughout throttle range with the needle valve adj. Need the 8 channel receiver.
