Ok, thats easy enough to check. I will tell you this. Without using a scale and all 4 engines running. It wanted to pull me through the garage. So if I wanted to do easy math. 190lbs divided by 4 engines would be roughly 48lbs of thrust. But I will definately check with a scale.

You got it. say if your airplane weights 20 lbs just divide it by 4 and the sum is 5 lbs of thrust to get 1 to 1 weight to thrust ratio.
but you won't actually acheive 1 to 1 with this size airplane and the engine type. you would have to run 60 size engines and the wings would ripe off lol. So im guessing that your airplane will weight about 21lbs with batteries so i'd try to get about 16 to 18 lbs of thrust out of your engines and play with prop sizes.

Alright, I have 1 more wing to monocoat. All the damage has been repaired. Once I finish the other wing, she will be ready to take to the skies. I am hoping to get it done tonight so I can try to get her to the airfield in the morning. If I can get her airborne and do at least once around the pattern and land safely I will be extatic. So wish me luck, and I will be sure to post pictures if we get her home safe.

Well, Things did not go as planned. I had everything ready, got the airfield clear for priority take off. Had everyone watching in anticipation. Taxied her out on the run way, went full throttle and she started to go left and right real bad. So I shut her down to be safe. Brought her back in and found the steering arm was loose. Tightened her up and tried another take off. Same results but worse. After taking her back to the bench, I found the steering arm set screw was stripped out. Probably from the other day, or could be from how rocky and rough the airfield is. So now Im off to the hobby shop to find a new steering arm. Gives me a week to go over a few more times and make sure the next attemp goes without a hitch.

Just a thought...you could make a new steering arm from sheet brass, drill the appropriate hole, and then silver solder it to the nose strut. Just a thought. It won't break.

Hey Cary,
What is your set-up for your flight controls. You can check my set up on the other ASM C-130 forum Page 12 post 276. Also for your first flight make sure you have good takeoff speed at full throttle. get to alltuide set our trim and throttle back about 3/4 throttle.
Keep your airspeed up during all turns and don't bank to steep. Make long flat turns until you get use to how she handle. don't use the flaps on the first landing until you get use to how she flys. i do come it fast just to keep up the airspeed because she don't like to fly slow. she dosen't fly like a trainer where you can drop the power and drop her in. She needs to be flown to the ground. during your
first landing approach i would make a long turn to final and make a long straight approach.Have some alltiude and slowly drop the power and let the nose drop maintaining power.. I would study the ASM C-130 Videos on Youtube there's alot of do's and dont's you can learn watching them.also double check your C/G it should just foward of the Main wing spar tube.

Jerry.

A-men
I agree with everything Jerry said.

Here is a flight off the grass.
http://www.seabreezeparachutes.com/f...video/CG2L.wmv

Note the speed of the flight as well as how fast it will slow once down in the grass.
It may look like it but the model does not have brakes.
At 25 lbs it slows very fast in the grass.

I will take all advice seriously. And I appreciate the video, I have studied it a couple times. I just wish the field im at had grass. It would probably take a lot of fear away. Ours is solid dirt and rocks.

I did take it back out on the street today to do more high speed taxi tests and engine runs to check for integrity. I made 6 high speed take off runs, and all had the gear come off the ground before I cut power, so I know she does have all the power to fly. After doing this for 5 plus minutes, I held the horizontals and ran the engines full throttle and kept track of the power drop. I ran 5 solid minutes before I started to see and power loss. Then 3 more minutes before the batteries were completely drained. So if I can get a 4 minute flight, I should have anoth 1-2 minutes for missed approaches before I see and serious power loss. I have all week to fine tune anything else before I make another attempt on Sat. Ill keep you posted.

Well Guys thanks to GotSky i got that ASM C-130. Going to Model this one after the last one i had 70-1270 but this one is going to be painted in the Vietman camouflage paint scheme. i got plans for a crago ramp and door, plus a
full blown cockpit. i allready started making molds to make the cockpit glass and front cover.
Here's a picture of both of them together.

Any plans to offer the parts you come up with to others as well?

You bet Troy, Here's one of the plugs i just made for the cockpit cover and i'm making one for the nose also.Since parts aren't available i playing around and trying to make my own.
Going to build a vaccum forming set-up this weekend and give it a try. As far as the ramp and door i found a video on Youtube with a cargo extractor made by ParkflyersPlastic.com that works pretty
slick. So just need to cut out the ramp and door and set it up. Got some ideas to hide the servos in the tail so it will be clean. got extra tail feathers and rudder to experiment with from the old airplanes lol.
I salvaged parts from the old airplanes lol.
Hey Troy you still have the main gear brackets available i could use a couple of sets.

Is that a set of gear brackets and gear door slides I see on the 130 in the background? <grin>

I feel a trade com-en on. :-)

Yep their the last set i got from you and they work perfectly. the first set were damaged beyond repair from my last crash and not much was salvageable.
Here's a couple of pics. ten take-off and landings with this gear and no problems. i also upgraded the air system with a Robart adjustable air valve and one large robart air tank. get almost 8 cycles before it runs out of air.
