First bit of maintenance has come a callling for my Wild Hare Extra, I mounted the canopy to the hatch with 6 shouldered phillips screws that came in the hardware kit, had one side of the canopy pull wood even though I soaked it with CA.
Thinking maybe I will put 4 more (2 per side) to help or add canopy tape, any one have any tips that dont include GLUE?

I don't trust any method except using RC56 canopy glue.

I agree with flatland mike. I used 3m tape and it matches my red perfect and looks great. I have done this on several models and have not had one come loose yet.

I did a quick cursory review of the threads for the extra. I'm looking for a pilot figure and cockpit for the plane. Does anyone know where I can purchase them?

Thanks

Well is anyone flying their Extras this month? Mine hasn't been out in several weeks and every time I pass my van it cusses me. Been so involved in getting other planes ready to fly that she's been getting ignored. Gotta fix that real soon.

I tweaked my gear on my second flight which was a dead stick. I had to land on some what of an incline. What's the best replacement gear?

I still have my stock gear, however I would think whatever CF gear or such that was available for the other Wild Hare Extra's would work. Maybe Tom or someone else who has replaced theirs will clarify.

All I have is the stock gear and a heavier duty aluminum one. Try TNT landing gear, they may have a CF unit that will fit.

I have both the stock gear and TNT gear. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. With the TNT gear you will lose some weight but you also have a gear that is about 4 inches narrower than stock. That makes the plane a little more tippy on landing. Also, the stock gear has a bit more ability to take the shock load on some of those less than perfect landings. On the plus side, my plane with the carbon gear, wing and tail tubes is in the mid 15 lb range. With a DA50 my plane has all the power I can use in the stock or lightened configuration. So which gear would I buy. Well, if you want to make the plane better and stay at stock weight I think I would call Tom and order the heavy duty alum. gear AND a new carbon fiber wing tube. Just my two cents worth.

Who's makes a carbon gear specific to this plane? Is anyone using carbon gear or sticking with aluminum?

Aluminum gear is the way to go.

I have Tom's HD gear on mine it works great, I don't think I lost that much in weight.
