Here are the wings of mine went with a different Honda scheme since this is what I ride and it was on the same line not as many wheels. I will give credit to my friend as he is the one doing the install of the graphics and he built the bird for me we have flown it a couple times and he did an AWESOME job putting her together ... Anyway the fuse is next going to look great !!!!!

Hey blue skies to both of you

Lee I used some medical adhesive remover that I had on hand has an orange smell to it , [link=http://www.orange-sol.com/medical/index.html]This Stuff[/link]. I am sure their are some similar types of products avail at local hardware stores.

Covering.... Hmmm seeing as I have never covered a plane nor used a covering iron I would assume anyone can do it with fairly good results. I just removed the old graphics and the adhesive with solvent mentioned above. cleaned that with alcohol then ironed on new graphics in mono/ultrakote etc. seemed fairly easy, although I am sure I will get better at it In time . The graphics as they come are pretty good but I just felt the need for some personalization and such. Will look good sitting on the flight line now and should be quite visible in the air.

more to come ....

I just did a revision of the interior CG arrangement and move the RX batt to the shelf with the ignition batt behind the cowl mount. This resulted in me being able to remove the lead I had attached to the motor box. Whoo hoo. Question on the A123 batts. Can I leave them plugged into the plane when not in use for short periods. I know this is a no no with LIPO.

I don't know why you would ever unplug them unless you are using a fail-safe switch which will run down the batteries after a week or two. If using a conventional switch you do not need to unplug the batteries at all.

Thought I would post a couple PICs of ROBOTO65's bird and new graphics. I have a couple more to do yet before I can take PICs of the finished product.
The first PIC, that graphic came in 4 layers, a bit of a pain, but it came out GREAT!

wow Great looking Plane Roboto and of course kudos to Greg for the set-up and graphics , I need someone like him out here to do my dirty work All kidding aside I just need more room and things set up a bit better for working on this beast from my wheelchair. [>:] I did some work on my balcony workshop today... will post some pictures tomorrow when I finish setting things ups bit more. I sure hope the manager doesn't ever look closely at how I attached the worktops to the walls... 1/4 toggles into the stucco [sm=punching.gif]. well back to work ... damn it's 9pm already and I haven't' eaten yet .... bye all

I had a rough day yesterday, dead sticked the plane and then on the next flight I had a bad landing in a heavy cross wind, breaking the prop and bending the left landing gear slightly. The big issue however on inspecting the plane, two of the four bolts holding the DL50 were missing and a one was loose. I had one bolt come out early on with the plane, and replaced all the mounting bolts with hex head bolts and lots of blue Loctite. The plane has been flown about five weeks with no issues with the bolts, until yesterday. I do check the to make sure the engine is tight to the firewall once when getting to the field. I suspect the wood in the firewall is compressing allowing the bolts to come loose. The prop was well balanced and the plane didn't have any unusual vibration. The wood standoff spacers are hardwood and there is a depression on both sides of the firewall from torquing the mounting bolts.

Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've dodged the bullet twice and I don't want the engine coming loose again.

Chuck

I always drill a few 1/8" holes around each bolt hole and put pieces of hardwood dowell in them and soak the whole area with thin CA.
Now the bolts are tightening against end grain.

Fishdeth: Excellent suggestion. We used to use aircraft ply but that was unnecessarily heavy, with lite ply use lock washers and soak the area with thin CA to harden the wood. Using fender washers will also help.

I always use a nylon aircraft safety nut. THEY NEVER come out or get loose. I never use blind nuts anymore.

Very good Idea fishdeth, I also use fender washers and even tried Prop washers from a old glow motors. There slightly smaller in diameter than fender washers but they do not compress at all.

Ok here she is delivered Greg came down for our Big Bird and brought my baby. I am in LOVE Oh an one of mine an Gregs line up at the field!!!!
I also have a question??? When I first flew her she was tail heavy and we moved the motor forward 1/4 of an inch but I think I have an thrust issue maybe when flying she wants to rise from level flight when I hit the throttle but when landing she wants to porpoise does this make any sence. I know they slow down fast when cutting the throttle for landing and I have to FLY it to the ground but she is rather sluggish when flying like nose heavy but porpoises when landing should it not come in hotter when nose heavy or is this because of a thrust issue!! Oh and what should the thrust angles be for this bird.

Here is a great trimming guide that will help determine the correct CG and thrust angles as well as a few other tweaks that must be done to have a plane truley "trimmed."
http://www.dmac.org.uk/
Click on "Downloads" and get the "Trimming Your Model", agree to the legal stuff and install it on your puter.
Print this out and take to the field and have a friend write down the results as you fly each test maneuver.
Then you can make the needed corrections and re-test fly.

Great article !

I am sure the Trim guide on [link]http://www.dmac.org.uk/[/link] is legit but......

If it's a guide why does it have to be installed and be an exe file... I don't install any exe files other than legit retail software or programs from pc hardware sites ( drivers ect ). Guess it does not matter as my maiden keeps getting put off each weekend [:@]. It was too hot today to fly, it hit 103 f here today and at 11pm it's still 80 f outside. I would have went if it was up to me but I am at the mercy of a friend ( I can't drive ) and he wanted to stay home in the AC and watch Nascar Racing [sm=48_48.gif]. Oh well, one more week to go over the plane with a fine tooth comb so I don't have something fall off or come loose.

I did break out my Trex heli and bust out some 3d in the parking lot here about an hour ago though. ( gotta love Night Blades and Neon Wiring )

On a side note , I have a sparkling new balcony workshop where I can work on some of my smaller planes and my Heli's, It's late here and my camera Batteries are dead but I will post some pictures of it tomorrow. Still stuck with the big plane in my room but at least I can work on the wings outside

Nite all
