These are some preliminary pictures of the new 50cc MX2. The scheme is from a full scale MX2 which sports the Breitling graphics.
I've included photos of the full scale plane so you can see what it will look like with the graphics.

Wow. That is just beautiful! I have always loved the Breitling scheme.
For some reason all of my planes end up with a red/yellow scheme and I find it very easy to see in the air under any conditions.
So, I assume 87" ws and around 1400 in^2 wing area? Will these be in the late October shipment?

88" wing span, 1440 in. sq. (I think), and yes they will be here in October.
There's a reason you see s many red/yellow planes, they are what the eye can see most easily.

Tom do you have any pictures of the new slick 540. I have a couple of friend interested in it after seeing my 88'' edge fly.

Wow...
That's dead on to Nigelo Lamb's scheme last year, and reasonably close to his MXS-R this year. Wouldn't take much work to make it "perfect".
Only major outline difference between the -2 and the S-R is the cowl...and a one-off cowl could sure be fabricated.
I think one of these may have to head my way in the not too distant future.

Since the fuse construction is exactly like the 50cc Giles with the two wing tube locations (scale and on the thrust line) I know I would cheat and use the upper location. Make this plane a mid-wing design and it would be a real monster and likely have even less coupling.
For what it is worth, the Giles with a mid-wing could be a 50cc pattern plane, based on the force layout, wing planform, and control surface configuration.
Just speculating, but it sounds interesting.

That was the idea, some people care more about how it flies than about the scale-ness. BTW the upper tube is not quite on the thrust line but is much closer than scale.

As far as "scaleness" goes, here is my take.
Nearly everybody has seen an Extra in person. Many people have seen an Edge. Very, very few have seen a Yak 54 in person (Jim Bourke's is the only one in North America, I saw Eric Beard fly it at an airshow in 2004).
Exceedingly few have ever seen a Giles/MX2/MXS-R (although that will change with Rob Holland, Nigel Lamb, Gary Ward, and Greg Poe flying the beast in airshows and RBAR), Slick 360/540 (NONE in North America yet), etc.
Most of the models on the market look somewhat "similar" to the full-scale counterpart, but have taken many liberties with layout, moments, to make them fly better. Most of us out here compare the "scaleness" of any model based on the representative models we have seen, and not based on their actual likeness with a full-scale plane.
This plane looks great! Can't wait to see it with some graphics. Are you going to get something going with B&E, Bad Brad, or somebody else as you did with the Sukhoi?

Probably the most talented of the bunch (and yes, i know who i'm comparing him to...see below) is rookie Matt Hall. Not a bad looking airplane, but just doesn't "do it" for me:

You've mentioned Lamb already, of course...here's a shot of his 2009 scheme (I ADORE this one, but then...I have a thing for black/yellow airplanes):

Alejandro Maclean's is probably the "plainest" of the -R's on the circuit...I DO kinda like it though...

Sergey Rakhmanin's is the most "boring" of the group, imo.

And then there's arguably the most recognizable of the 5, Peter Besenyei (Without a doubt, one of the most talented pilots in the world...but I fear, to be honest, the -R is simply ahead of him this year) This is a gorgeous scheme too, imo.

This plane looks great!

I didn't know that many MXS-R's were on the circuit this year. Last I knew everybody was flying an Edge. I agree the Besenyei Red Bull scheme looks fabulous on the ground, but I have a hard time following the color scheme in some light and sky conditions. Sometimes it is hard to see if the wings are level, etc.
Great pictures, thanks for sharing! Did you take those yourself?

Indeed, Matt Hall put the first -R on the podium just a week or so ago in Porto, taking 3rd. That also moves him to 3rd in the overall standings with 1 race left...quite an accomplishment for a rookie pilot and 'rookie" airplane!

Looks awesome! I have been interested in these since you first mentioned it. Now that I see the scheme I am pretty sure this plane with the mid-wing tube location will be replacing my wild hare cap soon

Here are a couple of the new MX2 in the red/black scheme. I'm working on a graphics package. The same scheme is available on the Giles.

Tom,
Would there be any chance, if one was willing to wait on a "special order", of getting one ARC with an unpainted cowl?
If not, what, if any, "plain single color" coverings might be available?
