Hi Dave,
Mounted my 140dz in a new plane the other day.
When starting it takes a couple of minutes of turning the engine over to get fuel up to the pump.
i put this down to the vent line exiting under the plane and sucking fuel out like a siphon making a negative pressure in the tank. and the tank is on the CofG 7!QUOT! from the engine.
the second problem 8 minutes of flying the engine starts dyeing like it is out of fuel still has 2/3 full. Here i think it maybe the clunk ( i am naughty i used a dubro large bore clunk i will put the YS one in this week and try) your thoughts?
or could it be were i have exited the overflow/vent line causing a venturi effect creating a vacuum?
OSf plug
18/6wAPC
30/20 heli blend cool-power
14deg c temp beter than the 43 in summer

Hi Lawrie,
I don't think the issue is with siphoning, but it might be that the pump is ready to go south. Can you prime the engine through the carb before trying to light it up? Might help.
You know that if the pump sucks a bubble, it will stop the engine, which is why you need either a Tettra type tank, or use the supplied YS clunk.

thanks Dave
Bugger about the pump. Engines 8 months old have to see how it runs this weekend
Moved all the pluming so the vent line is higher than the pump and installed the ys clunk.
If starting is still a problem will have to get hold of tates here in OZ for waranty.
Thanks Dave
YS still stronger than the competetor engines even the bigger 2 strokes can't match it!!!!

Had 3 flights this weekend.
Starting is a lot better crank it over at full throttle for 10 seconds and its all wet, not like before a couple of minutes before fuel was up.
Glow and a quick hit and its away. Idle is a lot better much higher than before. top end still the same with no adjustment.
Changed the clunk to the YS one.
And put some baffling in the cowl. I think alot of the air was going straight under the engine and out the bottom not cooling anything.
Thanks for your help good to bounce ideas of another person.
Your help is invaluable.
thanks Dave
