Default YS110s Mid Range RICH

I have been running my 110 in a 60 size Corsair and found it to be really rich in the mid range. I pulled the engine and put on my test stand to get a good tune.
My question is the needle settings, I'm really questioning the regulator.

High 1 1/8 out
Low-3 1/2 out
Regulator 1/2 turn out from bottom (most of my others are flush)

With these settings it's peaking fine, Idles great but still very heavy smoke in the mid. full throttle starts to lean with just a nice fine smoke trail.

Is this normal on the 110S for a regulator setting?

The low speed and regulator setings do not sound right....As if the regulator is not closing fully or the spring is weak. When you say 1/2 turn from bottom I take it to mean that you screwed the regulator fully shut. If that is the case you may have over compressed the spring which would give you these symptoms.

Also, try changing the plug. On the larger YS's the mid range is what suffered when a plug started to go back. The engine would still run, but the mid range became rich usually.

I know that's why I posted-I've never screwed it all the way in until i put it on the bench. After I began testing I screwed it in to get a reference. My question, I guess can this be normal or should it be flush with the housing. I will change the plug and see if that helps. Like I said though the low range and High seem fine-lots of power and good transition at current setting. Spinning a 15x7 three blade at 9200+. Just bothers me at 1/2 throttle crusing around looking like I have a smoke system on.
Maybe I should clean the regulator out???? Is their a way to test the spring??

PS-the starting needle settings in the manual state-1 1/4 for the High, 3 turns out on the low (110S) which is different than the older 110. Nothing on the regulator for reference.

Can anyone tell me if the factory regulator setting should be flush with the top of the housing-hope I said that right. This is the 110S.
Thanks

I think Troy answered my question from another post on regulator setting-Appears I may have some crap in my regulator and/or need to replace the plunger. It must be working to some degree but not perfect. I see others experiencing similar issues. It should be noted to others their are some differences in the older version of the 110 and the "s" series for future trouble shooting.
Thanks for the help

My 110S is slightly below flush. The older 110 is just about flush. I have noticed that small adjustments(1/8 turn or less)make a difference, but a few seconds for the change to take effect. Patience is key when tuning the YS.

My 110 is also slightly below flush. Screw it in to reduce the flow of fuel to the carb. effectively lean the middle and high. May need to open up the needle a little bit to maintain the high rpm.

Cleaning the regulator won't hurt. Testing the spring....just replace it if you are in doubt. It is so small I'm not sure what testing jig you would need to get verifiable readings from.

Thanks Guys-I believe I will take it apart, replace the spring, plunger and diaphram. Not much run time on it but it is a couple years old. I believe the regulaor is not shutting the fuel down the way it suppose to, it's cranked down just to far to be right-To be continued.
Thanks again
