What's the preferred retracts for this plane?  I have one that's been in the box going on two years now.

Looks like CJ has them listed for this model. I have not ran across any others specifically made for it so far. $380.00 for the set, not bad!

Yeah CJ's retract are droP in place for the cmp Zeke. Thanks for the kind words on the new paint. I am nothing compared to you guys skill level. That's why I fly fast and high, so no one sees my sloPpy work.

I don't understand the whole drop-in thing for the CJ retracts. Because the wing landing gear mounting blocks are in the wrong location so I don't understand how you can just drop those. From my experience No matter what gear you have you have to bash the landing gear section of the wing

Century Jet maybe making a drop-in replacement with struts that work. I agree that it would be better to put the gear blocks in the correct position for a couple of reasons. One looks better and also the stock gear mounts are kind weak, and would be better to make new ones anyway.

By the way Yellow Aircraft Zero is the same size at 80" wing span so the Sierra gear should be the right size but would need to make new gear mounts to make them work.

BubbasanJohn,

Do you have a shot of yours showing the stance of the CJs installed? The pic you posted earlier just doesn't show the gear.

Thanks

I have a CMP Zero that needs a new canopy. Where can I get one? Also my Zeros' wingspan is 82 in. Did they have two sizes?
Thanks,
Fred

Not sure because they advertise as a 80" but gives specs of 2100mm which translates into 82" but not a big deal. Wouldn't be the first time.....

Fred, might want to call or contact nitro hobbies. I think spare parts are hard to come by. I emailed CMP about spare parts but never got a reply.

I beleive there is only one size 80 inch zero. 80 or 82, I've never measured.

What about a Yellow canopy? Might be very close. I'll try calling Nitro first.
Thanks,

Why not vacuum form the canopy in 3 parts? Small work pieces and the option for sliding canopy. Plus less costly and complicated replacement of only the damaged parts not the entire thing should anything happen!

On the gear: I bought the Yellow Aircraft ones as the CMP zero is only an inch or two larger so, pretty much the same scale and the struts are very scale in how they work. My build on this model begins this winter. I had to complete my P40 and fly her all last summer. Now that that is out of the way I really can't wait to begin this build. Over the last few years I have acquired all the servos, switches etc. needed..... My ASP 400 Radial is even broken in too!

Chickenhawk , Ithink I did post it in an ealrier post but I have to say I agree your zero is sweet.

Aluminum Overcast ( any relation to the still flying b-17), your p 40 is simply un-freaking-beleivable!!!!

Thank you. Just trying few theories about scale representation on a model and personal growth. The P40 has some interesting things like custom machined oleo struts & wheels, functioning gill flaps, custom made exhaust stacks, sliding canopy with the pulleys and recessed mechanism, etc.,. Fun stuff to figure out and execute. All that was is in prep for the CMP Zero build this winter, and that is a prep for something more in line with my Aluminum Overcast handle....If all goes as planned a huge 210" B17 with 4 asp radials so the zero with it's singe ASP radial is a stepping stone as was the P40. The B17 will take a few years to complete so we'll see how it goes. Can you imagine the combined sound of 20 cylinders of 4 stroke music? It's a dream that I would like to realize some day.

link to my ASP break in: love the idle at 9:06 along the time code!

A little more on the P40.... Flying at the beginning of vid then mods begin at 5:37 in the timeline

Wow, I bet it won't take long to go through a gallon of glo fuel with four of those radials!  What size fuel tank will you use?

Amazing work as always AO. I'm looking forward to your bash on the Zero as well....I must say though....this thread has really set the bar!

I love how he calls this amazing Zero of his " a daily flyer " like its some old beat up foamy lol.

Not saying it won't be a daily flyer, but jeez....my daily beater doesn't look like I pulled it from a historical aviation mag lol.
