Hello all i am putting a Great Planes Stuka together 70" wingspan between 8lbs-8.5lbs with a Saito .82. I am looking for scale flying not a rocket ship so i need some help with a spinner and a prop. I would love to have a 3 blade spinner/prop but i can live with a 2 blade set up. I am looking for a 3"spinner either 3 blade or 2 blade combo. If anyone can steer me in the right direction i would appreciate it.

Here's a 3 blade Tru-Turn but it's a bit "salty".
A 2-blade True-Turn.
The 2-Blade Great Planes spinner is a bit cheaper.
I always like the Dave Brown spinners. Not as highly polished as the Tru-Turn, but priced better.
Here is a "short" 7mm x .1mm spinner lock nut set.

why do you want a "shiny" spinner on a Stuka. Me I would use a good quality metal backed plastic that I could paint the appropriate colours. Check out the one in the Smithsonian.

Trev no matter how far you live from the nearest person on this forum never say you are really good at airbrushing shock spirals onto german aircraft spinners.I reckon they look neat on the front of a fw190 in winter camo with a good sounding saito fourstroke,right up my alley.
ps sr a joke and it's true.Polishing valuable things attracts the accentric majority.I worked on german grand piano's with hermann(an austrian relative)who had a great sense of humour.I'd walk into work every morning and hermann would say,in a colonel klink voice,pssssst..dont mention ze vor!

The mounting hole configuration is still the same, but the 72's crankcase is about 3mm wider, I think (but check me on that) - check page 17 (page 19 if you are looking at the 2009 Saito Engine Manual on an Adobe reader).
I tried to upload the 2009 Engine manual but it kept failing, sorry.
For measuring, if you need a set of calipers, I found these at Harbor Freight and was really surprised at how accurate and repeatable they are. They're often put on sale for $10. I use mine all the time.

That is just the banner, but I have been there too. Looks like the one I have has a black plastic backing plate on it, so it may be the earlier version, but the weight of it is dead on at 16.5 ounces (470grams), and the carb sits a bit lower than the OS 70, so win-win. More power, smaller lighter package. My SSE will fly great with it. Well it will once I complete the repairs from my recent detailing. Just have to mount the engine, put in a new RX, balance it, then replace the damaged covering. I left the covering off the tail of the fuse until I balance it just in case I need tail weight.
There was a Saito FA-180 for $275, and it was brand new, decent price? I didn't want it as its too big for me, if I need that big an engine it will be gas, $3 a gallon vs $20 a gallon makes a big difference even if CDI is involved. The one I picked up cost me $300, but it included a AceRC 4-60 with 5 servos ready to go. The two wing servos are slim line wing servos, and they list for $70 each. The build on the plane is excellent, very nicely done. Maybe I will put the OS on it.

I picked up a used Saito FA .40a a few days ago, the rear bearing was badly castorated so that gave me the perfect excuse to get new Boca Bearings for it. It's a winner all around.

1st prop Bolly 10.5x6 RPM==10,550
2nd prop Zoar 11x6 RPM====9,650
The compression is super snappy, you can't dally getting your finger out of the way.
Idle needle had never been set, it's two full turns from where it was and still has a little way to go. More later, a bowl of chili beguiled me to quit and eat.
PS, I left the shields on the new rear bearing but misty oil came out of the vent immediately.

You can mail order it in small quantizes (5 gallons or less) from several places Amazon is the largest I know of. Or contact the nearest VP or Torco dealer.

No no we are having terrible problems over here with people cooking up everywhere,but that cash helps fund a few drag racing efforts! and you end up with enough small change for a cuban.

Maybe, but I have never seen a speed shop that sells fuel. Summit and Jegs do not sell fuel, at least not from their web site. Racetracks, and sometimes a side business of a gasoline fuel company is all I have seen. At one time there was a company located right next to a local dirt oval track
near Woodstock, GA that sold fuel but I believe they closed their doors.

Anyone traveling through Easter PA can get methanol for $5 a gallon in 4 gallon cases, $2 a gallon by the drum. Nitro & synthetic lube is $40 a gallon.

If anyone is interested I have a friend with a NIB gold box high compression FA-91 he is considering selling. This is the one you have to run 30% Nitro due to the compression to get it to idle smoothly. It's a real hotrod Saito!
