RE: Marutaka/ Royal Zero 62

I wouldn't bother. The filler will be able to handle any minor gaps. You don't want to be sanding glue if it carries thru the crack further than anticipated. I assume you will be glassing this.

RE: Marutaka/ Royal Zero 62

I've got a prestine Marutaka kit of the senior Zero which I picked up from the US distributor just before they quit making them. I'll be following your build closely.

RE: What does this mean 80/10 balsa

I'm a mechanical engineer by profession. When I went through school over 25 years ago we were given assignments with about 1/2 of the questions in metric and the rest in imperial, so I'm completely...

RE: RCM plans service still open?

I've never had an issue either, but I stick with online ordering. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.

RE: new at fiberglassing, need a little help.

I assume your mustang is fairly small because it is a foamy. I wouldn't recommend glassing anything smaller than ~55" wingspan. Even then, I'd recommend water-based poly-c on 0.6 oz cloth for...

RE: Royal Kits

I've bought a couple things from uswing on eBay and every order arrived as ordered. It takes about 3 weeks typically to ship from a US address to a Canadian address because of customs. I believe...

RE: If there was no ARF's, would you still be in the hobby?

I bought one ARF many years ago because it was a great deal in a hobby shop closing out sale. I later gave it away. I have no interest in flying something I didn't build, and assembling an ARF...

RE: Grumman F3F?

There's some plans for a 1/6 scale (54" span) F3F on Ebay.

RE: Yokosuka E14Ys

I'd be interested in plans for a Glen as well, in the 65-70" span range ideally. The cowl, being a radial would be very easy to make. Its similar to a Norseman cowl I built awhile ago except...

RE: Please help me do the unthinkable ...

Like many others, I'd suggest you have someone train you. If that isn't going to happen, get a simulator. I have an old Realflight Deluxe, the original version which is at least 10 yrs old now. It...

RE: What's on your building table or next in line?

I'm just starting painting of a Flair Legionaire that I've modified somewhat to get closer to a Neiuport 17. Right now I'm thinking I may scratch build a 1/6 scale Polikarpov I-16 'Rata' and/or a...

RE: Dauntless I Got In A Trade...What Now?

Chad beat me to it. Sorry, I didn't realize they were that deteriorated or that you had buried fittings.

Maybe you'll want to just fly it with the gear down for a start. If it flies well you...

RE: Dauntless I Got In A Trade...What Now?

Try this:
Insert a ~1/2" long piece of pushrod half into the old tubing and half into the new and then glue with Zap or equivalent. Then wrap just a couple wraps of scotch tape over the joint...

RE: 3 Piece Sliding Cannopy Help !

I can help you with this. I'm assuming that you already have a canopy or know how to vacuum form one. What I do is take small brass square tubing and cut a slot down the middle of one side. To do...

Here's another. I've built one of their Chipmunks and then bought another kit of the same.

I can think of a couple more manufacturers:

www.redstarrc.com

and, Unionville Hobby who don't have a website but are available from www.greathobbies.ca

There's also plans and parts...

RE: Handley Page Halifax - Nexus Plans

What were you using for low gloss clearcoat? I suppose low gloss still meant some gloss as opposed to dead flat clear.

RE: Building Nakajima B5n2 <Kate>

What's the span of this project? What are you going to power it with? Always nice to see uncommon planes modeled. Looking foward to seeing more photos of your progress.

RE: Oil Poly. vs Water Poly. vs Finishing Resin

I started using the water-based Polycrylic about 5-6 yrs ago. I use it over .6 oz. cloth and I only use two coats so I'm not filling the weave with the Poly-C. I have noticed that it toughens up...

RE: Fiberglassing with Bondo brand resin

I've also had problems with post-cure instability (parts warping) using Bondo brand resin. I use it for stuff like making spats but not for making large flat parts like landing gear covers.

BalonS,

Looks like you never had your questions answered as well as they could be. I assume, because if your interest in the AMA plans you're looking for something in the .60 size. The 'Elite'...

RE: Albatros D.III Build along

Hey BM,

I'd be nice to see a photo of the exhaust system you've come up with. I've been thinking of getting a D.III as well and would not be going electric.

Thanks,
Darren

RE: jerry bates B-26 martin marauder

I just tuned into this build. Looking good! For your rudder control I'd suggest you thread the end of the rod and tight double-nut it from both sides and loctite. If you really want to be safe...
