RE: Fly Eagle F-15 (1/9) Building Thread

Hot Rod Todd. Any tips on flying the F15. I have the exact same plane, including colour scheme and intend to get it up for the first fight this month. Ground handling, landing speed, flaps? Would...

RE: Aero Works P-51?

All you have to do to remove the cylinder and unscrew the cap on the cylinder. I used an o-ring I bought at the local hardware store. doesn't have to be the same thickness so long as it fits snuggly...

RE: 70mm F16 EDF Speed

Thanks for the quick response. I'm getting about 6 minutes using 1800 mah out of a 2200 mah pack which is an average draw of around 20 amps. THe ESC is rated at 50 amps so I may be able to get away...

70mm F16 EDF Speed

Test flew my new Nitroplanes F16 70 mm EDF today and it flew great, rock solid. Hand launching was a breeze - I didn't bother to put the wheels on. The only problem with it is I'd like a little more...

RE: YW engines

I use a Mejzluk 22x8 on my GP Christen Eagle and standard good quality 2 cycle oil at 40:1.

The engine fits perfectly in the cowl and gives excellent performance with the Mejzluk. It's a very...

RE: gas oil mix results

I have a Sachs 2.4 that was reconditioned (crank straightened) by Brison and they were specific about using a 60:1 mix as the sachs has a special alloy piston that requires less oil. They figured by...

RE: What Engine Is In Your 1/5 TF P51?

I have a Sachs 2.4 in mine and it flys very scale like. It weighs about 20 lbs with a static thrust of 18lbs. Does a nice loop from level light, stall turns - the usual WWII fighter maneuvers. The...

RE: TF P-51 Advice Please!

I fly mine with a Sachs 2.6 which is very close to a US 41. It flys very "scale like". Full throttle straffing runs will look very realistic. You'll need to dive a little to get through a loop -...

Top Flite P-51

I'm powering mine with a Sachs 2.6 which is pretty close to the same size as the US41. I've tried 18x10, 20x8, 20x10, Zinger, Dynathrust, Clarke and Cyclone. The Zinger 20x10 gave the best static...

TF giant P-51 all up weight?

Mine weights in at 20# dry with the robart retracts and a Sachs 2.6. It's covered in monokote to keep the weight down. Gorgeous flyer. with flaps full down it slows to a walk. Has no bad tendencies...

P-51D Mustang Giant Scale, Any experiences?

I'm using a Dynathrust 20x8. I tried a range of props from 18x10 through 21x10 and a few different brands. This one gave the best static thrust. I suspect I could pick up another 1 or 2 lb thrust...

P-51D Mustang Giant Scale, Any experiences?

Flight characteristics are supurb. With full flaps it will show down to a fast walk - stalls are a gentle mush. High speed passes take your breath away (assuming you're a warbird lover). I have a...

Confusion with Giant TF P51 Motor...

Did the test flight with the Sachs 2.6 this morning. Power was marginal. I would say it flew a little subscale. Loops require full throttle entry. Landing with full flaps required about 1/3 throttle...

Confusion with Giant TF P51 Motor...

I have a Brison 2.6 in mine (actually it's an old Sacks Dolmer but I had Brison put in a new crank and a larger carb). It is pulling 18lbs static thrust on my "fish scale" and the plane weights in at...

Ohio RC 1/4 scale Sukhoi-Control throw?

Congradulations!

Sounds like you've got the landings down. The key is to keep the power on right to the deck alright - I hold about 1/4 throttle on down to a couple of feet. Have you got a fish...

Ohio RC 1/4 scale Sukhoi-Control throw?

You definately have to cut out the louvers. The instruction book that comes with the kit makes this clear. I also cut a good size opening in the bottom of the cowl. Normally overheating will make the...

Ohio RC 1/4 scale Sukhoi-Control throw?

akflyer, the plans call for 6 inches back from the leading edge along the fuslage side. The 76 cc engine I'm using is a little large for this plane, I added about 4 oz of lead in the tail to get it...

Warbirds-Washout and Flaps

Washout sure makes the landing a lot easier. A friend of my and myself built identical Pica 1/6 scale spitfires. He put the 2 degrees of washout in that the plans called for - I screwed up with...

Ohio RC 1/4 scale Sukhoi-Control throw?

TJ,
I have the 84" version as well, been flying it for a couple of years. They changed the cowl from the three piece to a single piece because of all the complaints they received on the three piece....
