Ouch! Easy on that con rod Luke. Treat it gently and you wont get any of those problems. Plus dont bang your throttle open, if you hear it going hard at all, take it back to idle IMMEDIATELY.

Thanks Guys, job done!
I did drill a small pilot hole first, through some masking tape to check hole was in right place!! the drill made a mess of the paint...
I enlarged this hole with the dremel brown conical bit, and that gave me a perfect hole!! I've just put some fuelproofer round the edges to stop seepage! must remember that tip!
hear what your saying about running up... there were times during the early runs that the motor turned the master 16*8, what can only be descrived as 'inside out' after a kick.. weird gyroscopic effects.... motor is up to 8,700 on an APC 17*8, and is deliberately a little rich at idle..
Regards,
Steve

Flew Capiche last Night!!!
Surprise nice evening so it was off to the field!
Flies like a dream, smooth as silk...
Didn't try anything silly, as engine is new and was playing up a little now I've got the cowl on!!!!
Will try setting up idle properly after a few more flights!!!
Test flight uneventful, itching to do more with her!!
One very happy bunny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More flying Saturday!!
Regards,
Steve

Well worth the build!!
And all paid for by my not smoking funds!!! Will be 1 year smoke free by May 20!
Mission accomplished!!
Thanks to everyone on here who's helped me along, and answered my sometimes nerdy questions!!
Here's a shot before quite literally setting off into the sunset!!

Steve

It's getting better already... 3more flights today, nasty deadstick at 20ft.. easily back home to the patch though much to the amazement of onlookers (a rich engine drinks fuel [:@]) .... engine now starting to play ball though .. loving this!!![sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]
Now out of fuel but will hopefully have some more in for the weekend!!
Regards,
Steve

Right, on another off topic post, ive still got two 140DZ's for sale. Both are strong engines and are in tip top condition. If anyone is interested or knows someone who wants one just pm me or email me at: [email protected]
Cost is £220 + postage.
Cheers,
Angus

Back on topic , for those C140 owners looking to get their capiches as light as possible , the straight legged carbon undercarriage is at least 2ozs lighter than the swept version.

I usually find carbon u/cs from carbon copy can be slimmed down a bit with a hack saw without too much loss of strength, and saves another ounce or two.

My C140 is completely built now, just need covering and RC installation, will post some pics this week once it is finished. Going for the Hacker C50 setup, but with 10s. Will be nice to see what kind of power it has with 10 cells.

Foof...
You'll love it!!!
I'm still being cagey with my tight new 140FZ.... looks like I've got a smoke system it's that rich! It's too tight to idle properly as it loads up even with the idle screw out 3.5 turns!! It dies if I idle too long.. regulator flush.... only 1.25 galls through it though so far..
So.. just pattern flying for me at the moment, so smooth and precise..... stall turns take forever as it looks like the wings are filled with helium! will knife edge all day, with nowt but rudder...
another 6 flights and i'll start to try some 3D!
Regards,
Steve

Well done to the C140 boys...
Mike Williams - as professional and as smooth as I have come to expect.
Luke Shaw - he's come a long way in a year....loved the smooth controlled style.
Others doing their usual high standard and with thanks to Paul Skinner (C50 - and soon to join the C140 religion and Dave Stephens (C140 EP))
Beat eh C140 with a same class plane in the same class hands and Ill " eat my shorts"... (even if I have to get a special pair made !)

Hi all you capichers,
Just a quick question....What would a capiche 140 be worth complete and ready togo, only about 6 flights, all carboned up, ys 160 on top of the range engine mount, hatori tuned pipe, 9402's on all surfaces even a 9202 on the throttle, futaba pcm receiver. The engine has only had a gallon throught it. The model looks real smart and has not been abused or broken??? just toying of selling her to move onto bigger things!
Cheers, pc

Ive got a very similar setup and i would say it would be worth at least 1.5k but i'd be suprised to get an offer at that price.
i'd say youve got a good chance of flogging it at a grand.
That said though im suprised to see a 2nd 160dz capiche being sold - i think it is an absolute weapon with this combo and so capable.
