I run mine inside my fuz. I have two wires and a 10mm carbon rod sharing the fuz with it, and also chrome film on the bottom too, and havent had a problem at my current field.

Have finally given in and ordered one . Now it decision time which engine. I was just looking for some views on either a Saito 180 or YS 140. Am hopefully going to the states in next month or so and was going to pick up a few engines on the cheap. So what does everyone reckon. Have even thought about going electric. But dont know much about the larger electric brushless setups would like opinions on that too. I have only noticed one person (in this thread) who has done this though.

Thanks for the reply Adam, I was leaning that way anyway. I just want to decide on the engine before I start the build next week. Have found a shop in states that will do it for under £300 so its quite good value. With the Hatori pipe did anyone recess it into th fuse bottom? Which engine mount did you use?

Matty,

Angus B has some 140Dzs for sale I believe, might be worth Pm' ing him, as he's predominantly F3Yawn ing with his Synergy...

Other than that check out www.ysperformance.com
My 140FZ-S was $424 plus $25 shipping from there..

Or you could see what www.islandhobbies.co.uk has in stock if you dont want the hassle of customs....

Regards,

Steve

Yawn, yea F3A is real boring. Thats why i got rid of the Capiche (25 flights of 3D and I was ready to top myself) and kept the Synergy. Anyway, yea, I do have two 140DZ for sale. One I used in Eurochamps in Portugal and the other one is virtually brand new. Both in dam good condition. One from Euros has just had new con rod fitted along with new rear bearing and is mega strong engine (pulls almost same rpm as 160 on the ground). Total bargain at £220 + postage.

Any questions dont hestitate to ask.

Yep mattyd i recessed my pipe into the fuz bottom, you can see how i did it in this picture. Its a lot of work but worth it.

As far as engines go if you are going i/c i'd definitely go the YS route. If you can afford the extra cost and 30% fuel go for the 160dz.

Otherwise angus' 140Dz are going pretty cheap!

Also put a hatori pipe on the ys. Weston do an in cowl unit which is also very nice if you dont want to go pipe tunnel. Ask the baron for more info.

and although the cheap gator softn safe mount works okay the pricey Hyde ari is well worth the extra dosh.

I agree with Luke. The mans talking sense.

If it were me I would recommend a 140DZ minimum. Capiche with 160 went really well so that is the obvious choice to go for if you want to spend the extra money.

If you dont want a dingo then I have got a 140L I would be willing to sell you, but I would recommend more power than that.

Here are some vids of mine flying on a weak 140L just to give you an idea. Its still a wicked plane with the 140L and very capable, but may leave you wanting a little more power once you start to get to grips with it.

Nice flying Luke. I have decided on a DZ its just a case of the money. I am currently waiting for some insurance claims to pay out then I will purchase. Probably in couple of weeks. If Angus still has one left by then I will have one off him PM sent.

Sounds like fun Adam!

Car replacement jumps up and bites me... 2 weeks left....

Try out a V70 and V50 at the weekend, part of test involves trying to get a capiche 140 in it!!!

If I can get away with it, i'll go for the smaller V50, as some mad fool has managed to shoehorn a T5 engine into it! easier for the wife to park too V70 feels tanklike

All sealed... collected cowl..... cowl still partly matt behind cheeks....sprayer oops.......cowl now to be ready at end of this week......aim for maiden 10 April , was gonna let the boy play with it at RCMF do on 16/17... but I have to work now [:@][:@][:@]

Yeah, Ta Angus..might have been a better idea.. there's occasional black bits trapped in the 2 pack lacquer too from my brief inspection of it... I guess i can hook em out with a scalpel and tcut back after a few weeks... certainly not the pro job I was expecting....

Regards,

Steve

You'll know for next time eh buddy

Angus

ps Bought myself a Vision and ZDZ 50. It was £550 and has only had 12 flights and comes with everything apart from servos. BARGAIN! Any of Clan Capiche had any experience of this model or motor? Cheers.

How did it go with the Pipe, Adam?

I'm still waiting on the Cowl, so it's given me chance to do several 'check everything' evenings.....

Wing bags done, even for the tail plane

Perhaps a post on chavscum would be more appropriate

Steve
