Man your pictures look ALOT better than the avertised pics... i got confirmation at my LHS that mine was shipped on thurs of last week so anyday now.. my U-can-do weighs 8.6 lbs with the YS-110 and it has plenty of power. that is the motor im putting in this one. I would aslo like to see the bottom and one with the SFGs on. if you may find time to make some

Most of my issues on the Funtana deal with weight. It is too heavy. Also, the landing gear is too light, and the tailwheel is bad and too light, the tail braces break everytime you fly it and the servo mounts for the ailerons are weak. The plane is impossible to land smoothly, or at all for some people with the CG at the manual recommendations. It can be made to fly well, I'm told with a great big engine and modifying or replacing all the above. You add hundreds of dollars to the plane. I had over 40 flights on my and hated it as much on the last one as I did the first one. To me it was a lousy plane. The best day I ever had with it was when I gave it away to a fellow club member. Now, on to better things, the Showtime. I think I'll like this plane,Thanks,

Cheers for your frank account. The CoG was reputedly incorrect in the manual. From what I gather, some are now using a CoG about 1" further forward. I have heard several other reports of fragile landing gear. Looking at the videos though, it seems to do the business though?
The Showtime certainly looks stunning - the trim is arguably better than the Funtana's. From a flying point of view, I suppose it's hopeless trying to predict how it will compare to the Funtana - but I'd like to know if this Showtime 4D would be any good for someone like me wanting to learn 3D. My previous aerobatic planes didn't really have the vertical performance for true 3D stuff, but my next project certainly will.......[>:]
The wing area on the Showtime is noticeably less than the Funtana's - 200 sq inches![:-] Weight-wise, I didn't think there was much in it - engines aside for a moment. Hangar 9 state a very similar weight for both the the F90 and the Showtime. What's the actual difference between just the box stock airframes?
I'll be following this thread with interest. I think I'm interested enough in the Showtime to hold onto my cash until I can make my mind up between them!

I've never flown an F3A - only low wingers and an Edge 540. How do they compare - and are they much harder to fly?

drumbum, Mine is at Horizon Hobbies 2000 miles away. I wish I had a hobby store that stocked some of this stuff. Horizon said they will ship mine today, but it'll be next Monday before I get it. Can you let me know your opinion on the underside. Is it a lot different from the top? Dilled told the colors, can you tell if it'll be easy to see the difference in the air?
Good luck with your build. I look forward to some flight reports on this baby.
Thanks,
Barry

I'm past oozed, I'm totally geeked! My LHS called and said the plane came in today, now it is sitting in my room awaiting.........looks very nice upon first inspection. The final sanding before covering is not as smooth as my H9 Alitalia CAP, but that bird was like glass. Very nice however, great looking COMPLETE hardware. Very anxious to get this one in the air! Congrats H9 and Mike McConville, another winner!

The bottom is solid purple with yellow in the same design as top but with just 2 colors.. pretty cool it has removible stab just like the large planes. i can tell now the pants probably wouldnt survive my field... I also like the controll horns.. they are the same method as their larger aircraft (resembaling SP dubro heavy duty stuff) i went ahead and got a dubro tank. i havent had good luck with H9( tanks and YS motors BOOM. the manual on 3D rates recommends 50 DEG down elevator OOOooo YEAAA!!! 43 DEG aileron..
I will take some pics tomorrow if I get time to start on it

For your information: The tail wheel steering setup is impossible to do unless you have a 300 oz servo for the rudder. If you set it up like they say, the springs will put a large amount of pressure on the rudder servo at a full 45 degrees over. It will work just find if you set it up like the Hanger 9 Extra 260. You can go to Horizon Hobbies web site and look up the Hanger 9 Extra 260 and open the manual, you can see how they did it.

Thanks.. what length hors are you using to get the recomended 3D rates? will a 1" be enough. in the manual its like JR part#blah blah.. that is great but some of us cant afford the gold plated JR servos (wish i could). but i do have a JR radio though.. i will be using HS-645MG all the way around running on 6v KoKam 1500 Li-Po.

A buddy of mine brought his over for inspection last night. The cowling is small and inverted engines are almost a must. 2-strokes would be fine if you can get them to start inverted. A 4-stroke inverted would be best. He has a YS 110 that he will use in his. Getting the tank on CG is not pissible IMO. You can get it a little forwarg of CG at best and that would be fine. It's setup for a tank in the nose. The thing is built pretty light. Looks like it will fly well. Has the genetics of a pattern ship. The canopy is VERY nice. The CF landing gear might break like the new Extra 260. Watch out for delaminating. I would go pull pull even though it has a pre-cut hole for a rudder servo in the tail. They supply all the parts for pull pull rudder. The hardware for the clevises and horns are good but a little heavy. I'd use the Dubro horns with adjustable clevis that hug the wing angle (for up to 90 size planes). The engine mount is the H9 black fiber filled plastic, very nice beam mounts actually. I'd use a Dubro or Sullivan tank myself. The gear block is reinforced with some very beefy 3/8 inch square stock to spread the load. I'd still coat the surrounding ply/balsa with thin CA. The firewall is predrilled with blind nuts for the engine mount but can be popped out very easily. There are cross hairs for the engine center. The engine, wing, and stab are all in line so hopefully that means zero coupling.
Enjoy

come some please give me a flight report and a 3D flight report so I can maybe add this to my "maybe list".
And what would be the absolute best engine for this for extreme 3D?
What about the SFG's, whats up with those?

I just looked at YS 110s on the marketplace and there like $300, thats a bit to much for me. Whats another alternive that will give the same performance as the 110? How about what would be equivelant in power to the 110 in 2-strokes?

i havent fooled with 2 strokes for years but i would say an OS 120 would be about as close as you could get in a 2 stroke (dont quote me) you wold be better of asking that to someone up to date on them... the only thing is the 2 stroke would be more weight. something that would turn a 17X4W would be best because an 18 looked like tight clearance on diled pictures.. some people also say the evolution 100 is a good strong motor but again i have never run one so i coudnt say
