watso. I've only flown in Shelly once. That was earlier this year at a fun fly. It was raining like crazy only a few people flew. I was one of them. I guess I'm crazy. Anyways, I would love to fly down there and to meet you. What are the dates? I usually fly at our "Desert Eagles" field here in Idaho Falls. I like ours better because it's a grass field and theirs is getting very closed in and tight. But theirs looks a lot nicer with the paved runway.Anyways, I'd love to meet you.
Thanks,
Barry
PS: Bring that "light" Funtana. If I could've got mine down to that weight I'd have kept it.

Mine arrived about a week ago. Least to say I am impressed with the ARF. Not that I finally got my hands on some CA....I can start building. How many of you have pushed the tank back against the wing tube? My thinking is that with that big of tank....wou won't have near the CG change as if it was in the intended location.

I agree with you fully...I didn't want the slop....that's why I decided to try them........let's not turn this into a servo war....that'll ruin the thread.

I've been using Hitec stuff in conjunction with my other Futaba stuff for about 5 years. This is a very factual thread and you guys were talking about servos - I was merely pointing out a serious (and relevant) issue that could result in serious failures.
I'd hate to think of a single Showtime ending up in a bin-bag due to Karboite failure, that's all. And hushing stuff up will spoil the thread also - freedom of speech and all that!

^Horatio> I look at it as info good or bad... Then I can make a decision.
That's the same info I got when I called Hitec about Karboite gears...
60 and below sized planes, MG for anything above that... More so for 3D/
large surface type flying... But some have had no problems???
So Keep the info flowing:-)... Great Thread and Great People!!
So I guess for those that are flying with the YS 110... No problems with
the stock tank???

ok....I'll chime back in then....just trying not to start the battle thing like i've seen in the past. I've got the Karbonites on my Ucando .40 w/saito 1.00 I've beat the living crap outta them and they are as good as new. I trust them enough to put them on the showtime.....and that's exactly what's happening. All the gear from my ucan is going into my showtime. I dont forsee any problems unless I start doing full throttle snaps. Seeing that it weighs about 4 lbs more than my ucan.

BTW - let's not start a tank war..........just kiddding!!

The Showtime is not due til mid August here in the UK, so I'm considering getting the F90 instead, which was my original plan anyway. However, I'd like to see some decent video footage before I take the plunge. If the Showtime is visibly much better in the air, I may be able to hold out until then. I have to admit though, I'm getting impatient. VIDEOS!!!![8D]

Thanks Lee... I was wondering about using the stock tank with
the YS... Guess I'll use the tank that was in my EF Yak, and order
another to be on the safe side... Guess I'll have time before I get
the parts I need for the Yak... Thanks again.... And keep the tips
coming:-)

no one ever commented on the nuts on the control horns i was talking about way backwhen i was building. im still curious how other people did that using the stock horns. i think that is a manual error. but mine did not supply enough nuts i had to get mine from a hardware store

My kit didn't come with enough nuts either. But I've secured a couple and I gonna use them. What should we do, backcharge Hanger 9? There is no way I would ever try it the way it shows in the manual. I just assumed the picture was before the nut installation. And, because I like to live dangerously I'm using the stock tank. I have a Hanger 9 in my Ultra Stick with a YS and so far it's holding up well. When you have split the tank was it at a seam or was it the plug that goes in the tank hole? It was just too cool for that to come all preassembled for me to at least not try it. I know...I'm asking for trouble.
Thanks,
Barry

That just stinks... Well, I'm thinking...Ok, I'm gonna go with a Dubro also. I can get one at my LHS ha ha. But it isn't worth the chance. I'll go with something else. I might even have something laying around if I did deep enough. Thanks,
Barry

I used the stock screws for the control horns and the top half of the Dubro control horn's setup on the underside of the screw so the collett or whatever would lay flat on the aileron. I was going to just use the stock setup but when I was installing the ball link thingy on the screw/horn one of them started rotating during installation. Did not want to take a chance on this bird with such massive ailerons.

If I'm understanding the topic correctly, its about the nuts that go onto the 8-32 norn bolt and tighten against the control surface. Right? If so, its not a mistake. They arent necessary, except on the rudder if using a bolt throught the rudder for pull/pull. Glue the bolt into the hardpoint in the surfaces and it wont go anywhere. The nuts wouldbe dead weigh, and as with building any model where weight is critical, weight savings comes in small pieces everywhere you can take it out.
I've never used jam nuts like that even on 40% models and am quite confident that ther arent needed on the ST4D.

Okay, Im thinking about buying this plane or either the H( Extra 260, only prob with Showtime would be price of fuel, cause I would goi with a YS 1.10, and I would run COol Power, because its my PREFERENCE, so please don't tell me what brand i should buy, the cool power is 30%, and its all synthetic for YS, and it costs $20 a gallon!!! Thats the onnly problem
