Hi....Has anyone got one of these yet....Looks to be an awesome plane.
What are you going to power it with.
Thinking of a MVVS 45 MX.....JR 8611s.....Duralite batteries.
Should rock the sky.

My LHS has one and it is a sweet looking plane, my big issue with it is that it dosnt have a plug in wing halves.
Im not ok with a 80 inch one piece wing, none of the cars I own would haul that, otherwise I would have already bought it

I was thinking the same thing about the one peice wing. I will wait for the YAK to come out from Great Planes, but I would like to see a flight report on the CAP 232.

I had planned on getting this plane as my first gas project until I saw the one peice wing. I hope the Yak has wing tubes!. Why make a plane that big with a one peice wing. Hey Great Planes re-design this plane with a 2 peice wing. You'll sell more of them. Are you listening?.[>:]

I received mine about a week ago. I have not started on it yet. looks much better than in the picture. not a wrinkle to be found. this is a big plane. hope it comes in close to specs. I'm going with an o.s. 160, 5945 on everything but rudder 5955 there. I'm not crazy about the one piece wing either but I have a avalanche to take care of transportation.

The one piece wing is to save weight I imagine. Doesnt bother me that much though. I had a few cubs that had a 84" one piece wing. I guess if space is an issue it isnt much fun. My ultimate and christen eagle wings dont break down in two

I put everything in a big trash bag. wheels, spinner, all hardware, fuel tank everything that came with the plane. most of the parts were still in there bags. it came out 7.1lbs.

I say 12-14 pounds depending on the engine and batt's (glow vs gasser).

I guess they did build it lighter than GP Patty extra.
Wait. Did it come with a spinner? Is that one of those heavy GP Spinner? How much does that weigh?
I am building Aerotech Yak 54 and this thing was at 10.5lb airframe without wheels with expected weight of 17.5lb with canister.

My BME Edge 30% was 10 pounds out of the box. With a DA50 all up it's 17 pounds 5 ounces. So this CAP would be about 14.5 pounds with the same exact gear as my BME Edge. That's not bad for an 80 inch wing. I have a Kangke CAP232 74 inch that weighs 14 pounds with a Moki 1.80 and flies really good. Even 3D's. So this CAp would really rock with a 50cc gasser.

Now I'm tempted. I may have to pick one up when the aerotech yak is finished. For the weight sake, I may give up slimline pitts and go with da stock muffler to save another 1/4lb. With lipos, cf spinner 13.5lb may even be possible. wow! that is in the league of Pacific aero edge 540 (i think it was 82" ) at 13.5lb with da50 with slimline pitts.

yeah it comes with an aluminum spinner! I was shocked. lightened backplate too. the motorbox area is fuel-proofed also. looks like they glassed it. very nice job.

finished the cap today. 12.1 lbs stock hardware. os 160, pitts muffler, kline pump, fromco 2400 lipo w/regulator, 5945's on surfaces 5955 on rudder. one note when putting in the pull-pull the wires touched the elevator servos in the tail. I ended up putting swivel clevises that hung down on the servo arm to give me enough clearance. I already had the servo holes drilled out in the tail before I found this out or I would have sanded a little off the bottom of the servo cut-outs to give better clearance. I tried to take some pics of it. other than that the plane went together nicely. I ended up putting the fuel tank right behind the rudder tray which is on the cg. with this setup I was right on stock cg.

I weighed my airframe and it comes in at 7lb even minus the wheel pants. It will come around 13lb with DA50 if I go with stock muffler.

I just saw the post with a DA50 as the power on the front. Boy did that catch my attention! That is a lot of grunt for this plane. I must know how it workes out, please!!!!
I put an OS 1.60 with Bisson pitts muffler on the front of mine and it came out at 11 lb 11 oz.
The verticals are great and you could do two or three snaps in either and opposite direction, and just power on up afterwards (with an 18 x 8). I have two 8611A's on the elevators and one on the rudder. Very strong responses at low rates. No pump - moved the tank up behind the firewall. (Posted all of this stuff in the ARF forum. Didn't see it here till later.

I'm thinking of getting this plane too. I already have an os 160, but liked the review I read about the Fuji 43. I know they've had not the best rep in the past, but the new electronic ignition ones seem pretty cool. The 3 lb 9 oz weight is with moffler and everything so that's not that far off the DA 50. Aslo, its a lot less money in that it comes with everything. Anyway, I thought it looked like an engine that would go anywhere a Brison 2.4 would, and weigh a lot less than my Zenoahs. what do you guys think? The $799 tower price of this plane and engine seems pretty good. I was looking at the h9 260 extra Cheif is selling with the DA 50 = mufflers for $1069, but that's a lot more money. The video of the GP cap on the tower site doing inverted and rolling harriers looks prety good to me. Thoughts?

I just finished mine with DA50. It came out at 13.25lb with slimline pitts. The CG is 5 3/4 from leading edge as stated. Is this a conservative CG for such as precision? In order for me to shift CG to back, I will have to replace slimline with stock DA muffler to shave 5oz from the nose.

My VISION and DOUBLE VISION used DA50's with 23 x 8 props on them. They were in the 17 lb range.
I am pretty well known for the following power-rule expresion.
Too little is dumb,
The right amount is not enough, and
Too much is just right.
Add to that "I'll never use it all!" and you can see where I am coming from. You might be able to fit the DA header and short pipe under teh landing gear, which will move the weight back and sound pretty good.
You must video ths for us all to see?
Regards,
Eric.
The GP 79" CAP 232 is a very light plane. I would love to see you go vertical with this puppy!
