Any idea of where to get this turbo header? If there is a good reason not to use the slimline, I have no problem "leaving it on the shelf". Like I said, this is the first light build I've done and previously weight has not been a real issue. Also, I epoxied my firewall yesterday after installing the nitro conversion kit and went to fit the motor to the mounts and firewall and guess what, it doesn't fit[X(]! Anyone else rubn into this with the Saito 82 and the stock mounts and mounting holes??? Any recommendations? I looked at a number of different mounts from other companies (I work for a LHS so we have alot) but none of the firewall holes line up, do I have to re-drill?

Bolt the supplied mounts up to the firewall and measure the inside of the beams. The 82 needs 35mm between the beams to mount. See what ya got then you can either get your Dremel and slot the mount holes.... or tap the T nuts out of the firewall... slot the T nut holes and re-install the T nuts (blind nuts)

Sure does, I just wasn't sure if it was a good idea to mess with either slotting or redrilling the firewall or not. With the stock holes, the flanges on the motor only overlap the motor mounts by about 1-2 mm so I might need to actually re-drill. You think I need to do any re-enforcing after installing the ply form the conversion kit and expoxying the whole thing?

Inspect all the glue joints in the motor box and add glue if neccessary. You need to keep the front end light on this one so don't go overboard.

I think that was my only gripe about the conversion really.

You will love it and its one of the lightest mufflers you can get for it , great sound!

Here a couple pics and one of my son with it. Its coming in at 5lbs 6oz dry and will run a tank out in about a half hour in the back yard. Not sitting at idle either .. May go to a smaller tank , well see what flight times are. 15 min is kinda long for me.

See all the room I left for stickers SDS ?

14x6 zinger. Have not tached yet with the Turbo Header but should be up to around 9400rpms now without breaking a sweat

Thanks! Its all ready to go now. Yep another weekend in the rain though,The field is not that far away so I think Ill just put it in my car and go fly after work.
The weekends are always a bust these days.

just about 2 3/4" from fuselage to bottom of tail wheel. don't know how high stock tail wheel sits.

Just wondering how would a YS 63 do in this plane. Working on a big 50cc plane right now so dont see the plane in my future but I like the looks of the plane.

Ok finally got mine out . Great flying plane, Everything was straight and true! No tracking issues at all . Spent most of the time trying Imac and freestyle.

Switched to a 14x4w at the field and the engine really opened up. Taching a peak of 10,600 rpms vertical is unlimited Id say just right above half throttle.

I set my timer for 10min and brought the plane in 4 times as the timer sounded to check the fuel. So Im just going to say your going to have nice long flights!
Heck the way some fly a tankful may be all you need for the day.

I will have to get ASAP to fly it again with the CG pushed back .



The Y.S is another great choice rc-plane. I believe there are others with that setup in the plane.

keep an eye on the hinges. I had 2 break yesterday on the aileron. luckely a friend saw it and pointed it out before I took off.

My build is going very well....

I used.... and ALWAYS use Radio South Pro hinges... they do not break period. I HIGHLY recomend them.

Love the plane.... can not wait to fly it!!

In answer to your question the 88" Extra is a superb machine, it is the smoothest 50cc plane I have flown, in terms of precision it is brilliant, very precise, but turn the rates up and it is a 3D machine, hovering is sooo easy, I had it on the deck on its maiden and it just sat there, also I had a dead stick on my second flight as I had just retuned the engine, but it certainly is a floater, no problems at all, I think mine has come out at around 16.5lbs which is very light for a 50CC model so the DA50 proves to provide supeb power with the ES pipe.
I don''t really want to compare the two planes out right as that would not be a fair judgement, obviously they fly differently due to the size, weight etc etc, but if you are looking to get a 50cc machine, the EF extra is certainly the way to go!

As for the 78" extra I have not heard anything, the next plane to come from EF will be the electric yak, the replacement for the old 55sp-e taking the same setup as the vanquish this time though.

I just ordered this plane with the torque motor and Airboss esc. I have a spektrum AR 6000 reciever that I would like
to use. Will it be ok to use this reciever with this plane on a 5-cell li-po?
