Question for broken wing owners: About where on the wing is the break point? Center,, servo locations, etc. Was the wing totally severed or just cracked?

The leading edge of the wing cracked between the left servo and fuselage. I had 9202 servos on the ailerons and the flutter was so bad it stripped the gears on both the left and right ailerons. I believe if I had a servo with lower tork the wing would have seperated in the air.

I shipped the wing back to GP and they are going to replace it.

Just curious......how fast were you flying and did you seal your hinge gaps?

No, I didn't seal the hinge gaps.

I was doing a nose down vertical power off decent. I wasn't over-speeding the model at all. Just letting it fall.

What engine prop combo? Just doing comparisons to what I'm running.

Thanks,

well i had bad luck with the wing today but it was not GP foult it was mine i went to a fun fly and at first i was pract. and came for a landing to start the event and i hit the limbo pole and and made a big gash on the right side of the wing but with some duck tape and some ca it flew again and i finish 3rd not bad after smashing that wing all it took to get it flying strait again was 3 clicks of trim
this is a great plane i will try to get the big brother again since it went to pices on june LOL

Did GP replace the wing or the whole model?

Well, I just got my UCD .46 and I'm very impressed so far! My last plane was the GP Venus and I really liked that plane; this plane builds similar to what the venus did, but I think that gp made some improvements in some areas. I can't wait to fly this thing! I am just waiting on my YS .63!

You will be VERY pleased with the YS .63, i hav flownafreinds and he had the ys on it. I hovered it down touched the rudder and with 2/3 power i zoomed straight up! ( we also used cool power 30% heli gas it runs cooler, gives more RPMs and thats all i use on my glow planes) Best of luck

Has anyone done a pull-pull on this plane? If so, where did you mount the rudder servo?

i know someone did pull pull rudder on the 60 size ucd, he just mounted the servo on the bottom of the fuse in front of the tailwheel.

No it balanced perfectly with out using any extra weights or anything, he is using a 14-4 prop on it. I need one but all i have now is my os .46. It has enough but it lacks in certain areas though. I wonder if i put a osciliating pump on it if it would work better? It would be a pain putting it in but i wonder if it would work? Any comments appreciated!

strupp 22,
I mounted a pull-pull on mine with the rudder servo in the tray meant for the throttle servo. I then mounted the throttle servo on it's side ahead of the rudder servo and tray, just behind the fuel tank. I also put a 6v JR 1400 battery pack on top of the fuel tank. It works great, it balanced perfectly with no extra weight.
