Barry, what are you going to power it with? I have a saito 100 sitting in my basement that I was thinking of sticking on the nose ...the 82 is good but I'd like a little more punch out of the hover...would like the same kind of thrust I get with the profile with the 50sx.

I THINK THE STAB IS SO LIGHT,,,, I PUT SOME WIRES .
SOME TIMES I FORGET WHAT KIND OF PLANE IS UCD AND I PUT FULL THROTTEL AND I CAN EAR SOME FLUTER,,,THEN I STOP AND FLY SLOWLY AND NOT LIKE A PATTERN. THE SOLUTION FOR ME ARE THE WIRES...

The stablizer wires certainly can't hurt. Cheap insurance and added security.......

I've always ran mine with an 82 and was perfectly satisfied...unitl gjeffers comes along and dumps a 100 in his. Now he's conviced me that is the perfect engine. That is what I'm going to do. Actually, I'm gonna pull the 100 out of my 60 and put in my new 46. Then I'm gonna put a 110 on the 60. I was looking at that and found that the 110 YS is exactly the same mounting holes as the Saito 100 so it will drop right in the 60. And depending on my mood, just to get gjeffers goat I might put a 110 on the 46. If I drill the holes for the 100 the 110 would drop right in. But, likely I'm going with the 100. Gjeffers says that's the ultimate, and he's proven his trustworthyness to me.
Thanks,
Barry

I know and it looks pretty cool, but I always wonder about pilots that can't keep the wheels down.
Thanks,

I know with the 120 you'd have to add a few ozs weight in the tail to get it to balance. I bet the power would be awesome though. Probably get the plane weight to 8.5 lbs which would be fine for the 120.
THanks,
Barry

Hey guys, i didnt want to open a new post for a question i know you guys can help me with, here goes

im uping my control throw for my elevators and ive read and heard all the does and donts on mechanical advantage(but cant remember em all )so ive 3/4in from pivot to rod pin on the control horn and 3/4in from servo arm screw to rod pin, in other words a 1-1 ratio, this is ok isnt it? dont want to blow it off, but i think i need it to knife spin and waterfall really good.[X(]

gjeffers. 1:1 is good. I many time use 3/4:1 and have had no problem, but I always use the extra torque servos and metal gears. IE: HS5625 on elevators and HS5645 on rudder. I can max the throws and have never had a problem, well, with flutter anyways.
Thanks,
Barry

nice inverted fly-by.

Well I did the maiden flight with my Ucando this am. Wind was a little brisk, but I went for it any way. The plane flies great. Saito 100 5.5" cg. Could not try any hovering of harrier because too windy. Attempted a landing approach. No way can u flare this plane with a head wind, so I did a wheel landing and everything was great until I was running out of runway. I tried to turn the plane around but was rolling too fast and tore off the landing gear. Nice clean break. Kind of glad I did this because now I can attach it correctly.

Hey guys,
I've got a buddy who is just finishing his up and when it came time to balance it we were floored when we found it needed 13.5 ozs. in the nose. This is with the CG at 4.75" as recommended.
He's got a .46FX in the nose with a Pitts muffler and Hitech servos in the tail. The overall weight with no lead added is just over 7 lbs.
What's up with that? Any comments or suggestion?

I just took off Os46 this week and replaced it with a Magnum 70RFS and the plane balances perfectly at 4.75" with the battery at the back of cockpit and receiver in mid of cockpit.

Yeah I had to make a brass nose cone for mine on my lathe for the 46 to get it to balance. I have it down stairs and can weight it if you need. This plane is obviously meant to have a 70 FS as shown in the directions. As for that I am starting to believe every plane out there is really intended to have the largest motor recommended. They only give a range of sizes to accomodate everybody's wallet.

Just got back from 3 tanks this morning and it flies great with the 70. Still breaking the motor in so nothing to crazy today but it is always fun to put the flaps down and watch this plane leave the runway in about 10 feet flat and level. Oh yeah, gotta love that 4 stroke purrrrrrrrrrrrr!

catboater. Somethings wrong. I've built 4 of these planes and the heaviest one weighed 6 lbs 2 ozs. I was able to trim the weight on each one with lighter tires and a mini servo on the throttle but NOTHING special. The last one I built weighed 5lbs 12ozs with a Saito 82. I use Hitec HS5625 on the elevators HS5645 on the rudder and HS645 on the ailerons. I do use carbon fiber pushrods because they are light and stiff, but I don't think you save much on weight over stock. Also, the CG is recommended all the way back to 6" and many guys are flying it there with absololutly no problems. This isn't like a Funtana where it becomes too tail heavy to land. It does just fine with a 6" CG but I perfer 5 5/8". It has less coupling and still 3Ds fine. Super airplane, I just can't imagine why yours is so heavy. Did you add stuff other than stock?
Thanks,
Barry

really, my sons with a 46 size engine weighed in at 5lbs 12 oz and had to put the 600ma batt in with the fuel tank but 7lbs sounds odd[&:]

Well, our scale could be off I suppose. My friend didn't add anything extra so we'll have to try another scale. He's flying it tomorrow with the cg around 5 1/2".
I built one and I didn't have to add any weight at all to balance it with a JEN .56 up front. I never did weigh it though.
I'm guessing the scale is wrong

at first with the OS 46 AX my weight was 2.6 kg - 5,7 Lb (i don´t know about oz), now with Super Tigre 90 the weight is 2.9 kg - 6.38 Lb......

Today is the first day of the winter we have sun "great and big sun" i can fly my third fly with the .90 ...... newly i´m learning hover, or torque roll, because with .90 the plane begun to rotate macking torque roll, i can do for a few seconds some harrier, and i can´t do kespin, its impossible, i try with flaperon without it and nothing,,, its go down like a little flatspin , i´m praticing a good rolling circle without problem,,,, some KE with flaperon,,,

Hey sergio, the KE-loop is looking pretty good this morning, try it again, dont give up[>:]
my setup is :
ele----------55deg
rudder------3.5in
flapperon---65% on switch
when you stall just with engine idle, just give full down and full left rud then add engine and start in on left aileron till KE spinning and you may add more throttle as nessary
its working for me
